This rare recording features a high-quality stereo audience recording of a live performance at Maxxis Kansas City in September 1976, a year after the Dolls split. The New York Dolls, now down to only original members David Johansen and Sylvain Sylvain, held a live show at their hometown venue, Maxxis Kansas City, New York, on September 25, 1976. While the following day's Maxxis performance is available on the same label's previously released "LOST MAX'S TAPES '76 (TOTH2906)," this release captures the first day of a two-day concert. Digitally transferred directly from the master cassette, the sound quality is considered top-notch for the time, with a wide range and exceptionally balanced clarity across all parts, including vocals. In 1975, Jerry Nolan and Johnny Thunders left the band to form the Heartbreakers, while Johansen and Sylvain put an end to the Dolls' activities. The first show featured Dolls' heyday hits "Looking For A Kiss," "Bad Girl," and "Personality Crisis," as well as "Girls" and "Teenage News," which were played at a live show in 1975 when Johnny and Jerry were still in the band. The second show featured a different setlist, including "She Knew She Was Falling In Love," a Sylvain song that appeared on Johansen's solo album (released in 1979), "Wreckless Crazy," and tracks from Johansen's solo albums. The set also included "There's Gonna Be A" (not played at the first show), a rare cover of New Orleans-born Eddie Bo's "Check Mr. Popeye," and more.
