The fact that legendary taper Mike Millard recorded not only the Rolling Stones but also the New Barbarians' stage was revealed by the release of "L.A. FORUM 1979 MIKE MILLARD FIRST GENERATION TAPES" last year, but it was still fresh in my memory that the final part of the live performance was replaced with San Diego on the last day of the tour. This was not easy to do, and it was actually analyzed by enthusiasts that the finale "Jumping Jack Flash" was back to the LA Forum take again. This fact was overlooked even by JEMS, who released the sound source, and even overlooked in the research for the release of "L.A. FORUM 1979~" (I didn't notice it at all). As for the account of an enthusiast who transfers the Millard sound source to YouTube every week, due to such confusion, he cut out all the parts that were originally supposed to be San Diego and uploaded them. What's most important is that it became clear that Millard had recorded all the way to San Diego at that time. Thus, the San Diego performance on May 22nd, for which the existence of the recording was confirmed, was finally released. What became clear was that the final part of the LA Forum live performance could not be recorded properly due to a recorder problem, so Millard had saved that part in the first generation state by replacing it with San Diego. However, since the tape returned to the LA Forum from "Jumping Jack Flash", it is clear that some problem occurred in the latter part of the live performance that was replaced. It seems that Millard had been recording with a recorder malfunction at this time, and this San Diego performance was also saved in the first generation state that was copied once from the master. Signs of this can be seen in the undulating sound of "Honky Tonk Women" and the muffled sound of the final two songs of the live performance. What's more, strangely, the state of the same part as "L.A. FORUM 1979~" is different. There was noise in "Seven Days" that was not there, and even after "Before They Make Me Run", the scene where they asked for an encore was shortened to "L.A. FORUM 1979~". This was also something that Millard did intentionally when making a copy of the first generation from the master, but the reason for this can only be explained by Millard. The "Seven Days" version was left unchanged out of respect for the state of the master, but the cut after the end of "Before They Make Me Run" was already released and was not included this time, so the sound quality was adjusted from the "L.A. FORUM 1979~" version and then compensated for it. This is the first time that Millard's recording of San Diego has been revealed, and at the same time, the genuine live take of "Jumping Jack Flash" in San Diego has also seen the light of day. The performance has a completely different atmosphere from the LA Forum. This is because, unlike the take at the Forum, where Billy Preston's organ, who joined in the act, started the intro, this one starts off with a normal intro. Furthermore, while the performance there was quiet at the beginning, the performance was heated up by Zigaboo Modeliste's drums, this one gives the impression of being the final day of the tour, with a high level of tension and a sense of speed from the intro. In the first place, the New Barbarians have a sloppy image due to the May 5th Largo recording, which was early in the tour and had a too direct PA out soundboard recording, but the release of "L.A. FORUM 1979~" was very meaningful in that it overturned that. Three days after the Forum, and the final day of the tour, in San Diego, the band's unique style was finally established, and a loose but good stage was played out. It seems that the rhythm section was able to read the mood of the Stones group by digesting the tour, and Zigaboo's efforts shined everywhere. When it comes to faster tempo numbers such as "Infekshun", "I Can Feel The Fire", and "Seven Days", the performance is wonderful, making the band feel more united than in the Largo days. If they had continued the tour for another month, they would have been even more united. Ronnie, who was the frontman of this band, is in a good mood and talks a lot. Even Ian McLagan is talking a lot, which is unique to the last day of the tour, and is also typical of the New Barbarians. And the sound quality of the audience recording by Millard is a sound image that gives a sense of distance even more than the LA Forum, but it is still at a good level. Above all, the intensity of the performance is firmly conveyed. This is the full picture of the Millard recording in San Diego that enthusiasts have been waiting for! Remastering Notes Before They Make Me Run 4:38 - 5:28 The bonus track from the previously released "L.A. FORUM 1979 MIKE MILLARD FIRST GENERATION TAPES" has been equalized and replaced. This time, there were two cuts and it was 26 seconds shorter than the previous release, so I replaced it. (It's not an important part, but it's the focus of this album.) The rest of the sound is the original. Sports Arena, San Diego, CA, USA 22nd May 1979 PERFECT SOUND Disc 1 (72:00) 1. Intro 2. Sweet Little Rock 'N' Roller 3. Buried Alive 4. F.U.C. Her 5.
