To coincide with the release of the live album "TONIGHT'S THE NIGHT" at the Roxy in 1973, which moved enthusiasts all over the world, Crazy Horse and Neil have reunited. The stage with them and Neil was supposed to be the last one on the European tour in 2014, but before the start of the tour, bassist Billy Talbot suffered a mild stroke and left the band. Therefore, it was the first time in almost five years since the European tour in 2013 that he and Neil performed together (ironically, Rick Rosas, who replaced Billy in 2014, died suddenly in the fall of that year). What also surprised fans all over the world was the lineup of Crazy Horse members this time. At the end of the 2014 tour, the familiar Poncho Sampedro expressed his reluctance to continue as a member of the Horse, given his age. Although he did not specifically announce his departure, Nils Lofgren will be taking his place at this show. Nils was originally a member of the original Crazy Horse, which Danny Whitton was a member of, and was, so to speak, Poncho's senior. Furthermore, he was also a member of the Santa Monica Flyers, which could be called a modified Crazy Horse at Roxy, so it can only be said that his participation at this timing was a great opportunity. In addition, Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band is on hiatus, so it was not at all unreasonable for him to rejoin the Horse this time. Fans around the world welcomed the formation, which is not only a restart of the Horse, but also a reunion of the Santa Monica Flyers. Therefore, at the same time as it was announced that a show that could be called a Roxy release commemorative live would be held in early May, it was also decided that the first show to be held on May 1st in Fresno would be streamed live from the "NEIL YOUNG ARCHIVES" site. In other words, Billy's return and Nils' rejoining of the Horse could be seen in real time... This was also welcomed with great joy. The streaming broadcast on May 1st was filmed by one of Neil's staff using a single camera. Therefore, the angle is like a "superb audience shot", but the sound is of course recorded on the soundboard. Surprisingly, "Big Time" was played at the opening of the Neil and Crazy Horse reunion show, which enthusiasts around the world were waiting for. This repertoire was frequently played in 1996 and 1997, but the song that was played several times in 2001 and disappeared will be revived at the opening this time. After that, there was a dazzling exchange of Neil & Horse classics. Moreover, I was stunned by the performance that did not feel a blank. "Country Home" and other songs are so good that they are amazing. Perhaps in response to the excitement of this performance, the staff's camera also suddenly closed up halfway through "Don't Cry No Tears". It is only the staff who can shoot on stage. "World On A String" is a perfect reproduction of Roxy, and it captures Nils playing the piano in the same song in 1973, and also shows him playing the piano in "Only Love Can Break Your Heart". After all, he played the piano in the original recording of the song, and it was thrilling to see him reproduce it on stage like this. It was groundbreaking to see "Too Far Gone", in which Nils plays slide guitar in place of the late Ben Keith, performed by the band, and it was one of the highlights of the show. Even more shocking was the unfading of both Billy Talbot and Ralph Molina's playing and looks. In particular, Molina's bouncy drumming and looks are unfading, which makes it hard to believe he is 74 years old. The video also makes you believe that Crazy Horse will continue to run as long as he is alive. And Neil is enjoying his first collaboration with Horse in a long time, and he plays a series of hustling plays. The only song that ended up being a performance commemorating the release of Roxy, "Walk On," was a disjointed performance, but the rest of the show was in top form. In particular, the performance of him playing a solo to his heart's content in "Mansion On The Hill," which closed the main part of the show, was only possible with the Horses backing him up. He is truly special when he is playing with the Horses. The first day's show was broadcast worldwide, but in Japan, it was broadcast in the afternoon on a weekday, so many people were probably too busy to watch it even if they wanted to. Moreover, the version that a maniac had uploaded to YouTube immediately after the broadcast was quickly deleted. Live at Warnors Theatre, Fresno, CA. USA 1st May 2018 1. Introduction 2. Big Time 3.
