Celebrating their 50th anniversary, MOTT THE HOOPLE's first North American tour in 45 years has been a hot topic. Here is their latest and best original sound source. In 2019, they toured under the title "MOTT THE HOOPLE '74", and their first North American tour in 45 years was part of that. They returned to their home country of the UK and completed all scheduled performances. Among them, this work contains the "Birmingham performance on April 21, 2019". It is a superb audience recording. First of all, let's look back on the overall picture of "MOTT THE HOOPLE '74" in order to get an overview of their activities. ・April 1-10: North America (8 performances) ・April 17-27: UK (7 performances) A total of 15 performances. Although it is small, most of the reorganized MOTT THE HOOPLE so far have only had a few performances. It was the first time since 1974 that the scale of the tour could be called a "tour" that overlaps every day and night. Among them, the Birmingham performance of this work was the fourth concert in the middle of the "UK" edition. This work, which recorded such a show, is a superb audience recording. It is the original master of this work, which was handed over directly from the recorder himself, and it is already superb. The recording was made by a master who is familiar with the "British master" in our shop, and his personality is a combination of realistic airiness and modern clarity. This work makes the most of its flavor, and the liveliness and ease of listening are not half-baked. The strong yet clear core reaches straight to the hand, and the touch of the piano that is struck repeatedly is clear. Of course, the hall sound is also absorbed, but it is wonderful because it does not cause cloudiness or turbidity. And the overwhelming thing is the vivid realism. Of course, the joy of the boiling site is real, but what is more realistic than that is the performance. The details are clear, the tone has a presence, and the three-dimensional feeling is super realistic. When I close my eyes, I can picture Ian Hunter, Morgan Fisher, and Ariel Bender on stage. It's a fresh sound that makes you feel like "the real thing is there" at a live venue. The show depicted with that beautiful sound makes the wonderful "1974" jump through time and space. Although it does not reproduce a specific album or show, the mood of a special show begins with the voice of the late David Bowie at the beginning of the show, and the golden repertoire made up of all his works except "WILDLIFE" and "BRAIN CAPERS" is played out as much as possible. Although neither Dale Griffin nor Ovalend Watts are anymore, the melody and heat of the traditional masterpiece "LIVE" cannot help but remind me of it. The highlight medley is particularly strong. Including "Mean Woman Blues", "Johnny B. Goode" and "You Really Got Me" that can't be heard in "LIVE", a wide range of nine songs from classics to standards are played over the course of about 16 minutes. And THE RANT BAND, who fills in the gaps of Dale and Ovalend, is also wonderful. They have been Ian's back for a long time, so they are solid. It is a live album that allows you to feel every corner of the ensemble that breathes and talks naturally with the three main actors, and immerse your whole body. 50 years since the formation and 45 years since the dissolution. MOTT THE HOOPLE toured in the memorable year of 2019. It is a masterpiece of a live album that allows you to witness the scene with a clear yet ultra-realistic sound. Usually, when pursuing high sound quality, the sense of realism and presence tend to be sacrificed, but this is a rare one that balances both at an incredible height.
