MOTORHEAD signed with Sony's major EPIC Records in 1991 and made a foray into the major scene with their powerful album "1916". The official video of the out-of-print album is now available. The true identity of this work is "EVERYTHING LOUDER THAN EVERYTHING ELSE". There is also a live album of the same name, but that was released in 1998. This work is completely different from that, and is a live video work from the "1916" era. At that time, the HR/HM bubble was still alive and many bands were making big hits from major labels. Even MOTORHEAD, who had never paid any attention to major labels, belonged to a major label. And the first of these, "1916", became a masterpiece that successfully combined "likeness" and "major feeling", including the ballad "Love Me Forever". This work is a video work from that era, a multi-camera pro shot of the "Munich performance on March 11, 1991". First, let's look back at the schedule at that time and check the position of the show. ・February 3rd-25th: Europe #1a (13 performances)《February 26th "1916" released》・February 27th-April 18th: Europe #1b (38 performances)←★Here★・June 10th-30th: Japan/Oceania (10 performances)・July 9th-August 18th: North America (29 performances)・September 25th: Norway performance・December 18th-23rd: Europe #2 (6 performances)This is MOTORHEAD in 1991. They started their world tour from Europe, their major voting base, and "1916" was released in the middle of it. The Munich performance in this work was the 11th concert of "Europe #1b". This work, which was filmed at such a show, is (naturally) completely official class. In fact, this work itself has also been made into an official DVD, but this work is a little different. It was created from the Japanese laser disc released at the time. You may think, "There's an official DVD, so why a laser disc?" But this is actually the point, and it has Japanese subtitles. Lemmy's MC can be seen with Japanese subtitles, but even more important is the documentary scenes. Although this work is mainly about live performances, there are plenty of interviews with each member, tour bus, backstage, etc. in between. Reminiscences from the HAWKWIND era, Lemmy's typical words such as "Hitler is a man of the 80s," "Marriage? I thought about it for about 30 minutes," "People chase women even after they get married. They're not sincere. I'm a sincere man," and even Animal's comments such as "Lemmy is a four-string rhythm guitar. He can't play a six-string guitar." That said, the documentary is just a bonus, and of course the main point is the live performance. This work is basically black and white footage, but it is colored with effects in places. It's a stylish video that is very 90s (or rather late 80s) and major, but the performance is the fierce MOTORHEAD itself. Let's summarize the contents here. "1916" (6 songs) I'm So Bad (Baby I Don't Care) / Going To Brazil / No Voices In The Sky / Angel City / Love Me Forever / R.A.M.O.N.E.S. Others (6 songs) Golden Trio era: Metropolis / Ace Of Spades Other 4-person era: Killed By Death / Orgasmatron / Traitor / Just 'Cos You Got the Power ... and so on. The repertoire of the golden era is limited to "Metropolis" and "Ace Of Spades", and the masterpieces after the four-person era are full. There are big classics such as "Going To Brazil" and "Killed By Death" that were played for a long time, but there are also plenty of masterpieces unique to that time such as "Traitor", "No Voices In The Sky" and "Love Me Forever". In particular, "Angel City" is a precious song that was only available on this tour, and the famous ballad "Love Me Forever" (Lemmy also said, "You thought you'd never hear it again, right?") that was a hot topic at the time can be enjoyed in the finest quality. The opening caption "filmed in unified Germany" and "coincidentally, the Gulf War began and ended during this (filming) period" give a sense of the era to this video work. The recession triggered by the war led to a storm of layoffs of HR/HM bands by major companies, and MOTORHEAD returned to a small and medium-sized label. Although it may not seem like a good fit at first glance, MOTORHEAD remained with the majors without losing their "identity". This is a CD that allows you to witness that precious era in stylish footage. Official footage from the "1916" era has been released. It has been reprinted from the Japanese LD version, which is complete with bilingual subtitles that were not included in the official DVD, and the documentary scenes can be intuitively understood.
