This incredibly rare and precious recording features Milton Nascimento, considered one of the greatest Brazilian musicians since the late 1960s, along with Caetano Veloso, performing at Avery Fisher Hall in New York City on June 26, 1990, featuring Wayne Shorter. Recorded in miraculous, superb quality by the renowned Tape Tyrant, this two-disc set is the first of its kind! While a recording of the two artists' collaboration, "Montreux Jazz Festival 1990," was previously released, that was a shortened live performance for the festival, and now, for the first time, this precious performance can be heard in its entirety! Brazil, renowned for some of the most beautiful music in the world, is a preacher of the essence of Minas music. Nascimento's angelic voice opens the first half with a performance by a group of some of Brazil's finest musicians, and Wayne Shorter finally takes to the stage midway through. Shorter was one of the earliest jazz musicians to take notice of Brazilian music, and, along with Herbie Hancock and others, he was particularly captivated by Nascimento. Their relationship continued, with Shorter participating in Nascimento's works early on and even asking him to appear on his own classic albums. Here, Shorter, primarily on soprano, plays a saxophone that is rich and full of emotion, almost summing up his career. His harmonious saxophone playing, perfectly complemented by Nascimento, is a miraculous, virtuoso performance. The audience's rapt attention adds to the virtuosity of this virtuoso performance.
