"When I get serious, no rock band can hold a candle to me!" said Miles Davis, who first came from the jazz world to the Fillmore (East & West), the most current music hall of fame for rock, soul, and funk at the time, founded by legendary promoter Bill Graham. The legendary live performance, which was his last appearance at the Fillmore due to the venue's closure, is now back with the highest quality sound! Miles Davis' appearance at the Fillmore (East & West) was the catalyst for him to break out of the narrow confines of jazz and rise to become a popular artist on par with Jimi Hendrix, the Allman Brothers Band, the Grateful Dead, and Sly & the Family Stone, who were the hippest artists at the time. The Fillmore (East & West) was a legendary holy ground that existed from 1968 to 1971, and some of the most important concerts in the rock world at the time were held at this venue. It was a legendary concert venue founded by legendary promoter Bill Graham, who continued to organize concerts for popular artists for a long time, in New York and San Francisco, the bases of the east and west of the United States. There was a time when performing at the Fillmore East and West, run by Bill Graham, was a status symbol for a first-class artist. Fortunately, many wonderful live recordings of great performances there remain. The most important historical work by Al Cooper and Mike Bloomfield, Carlos Santana, Stephen Stills, and others, entitled "The Miracle of the Fillmore," in Japan, as well as the Allman Brothers Band, Aretha Franklin & King Curtis, Jimi Hendrix Band of Gypsy, and many other works that are now considered great live masterpieces and classics are live recordings at the Fillmore. In addition to the talent of the artists, there is something about the place called the Fillmore that cannot be described as a god-like presence. As the above live recording proves, the aura and awesomeness that the artists give off is clearly different from anywhere else. Reigning at the top of that is our Miles' "At Fillmore"! Here is a summary of Miles Davis' appearances at the Fillmore (East & West): March 6-7, 1970 (East); April 9-10-11-12, 1970 (West); June 17-18-19-20, 1970 (East); October 15-16-17-18, 1970 (West); May 6-7-8-9, 1971 (West). This is the definitive version of the second day of Miles' last performance at the Fillmore West on May 7, 1971, before the Fillmore (East & West) closed, recorded with superb sound quality that far exceeds that of previous releases! The stage on that day was a joint performance between Elvin Bishop's group and Mandrill, and Miles' group is thought to have been the final act. At the time, Miles was 45, Gary Bartz was 30, Keith Jarrett was 26, Jack DeJohnette was 29, Iart was 30, and Michael Henderson was only 19. This super group of talented musicians, all of whom were at the peak of their coolness, were roaring and raging on the Fillmore West stage, which was packed with rock fans! This was the last show in America for DeJohnette, who would later go on to form his own group Compost, and for Keith, who would go solo (he would soon leave for Europe), and it was also his last show at the Fillmore, so Miles and all the other members were extremely excited, with Keith's keyboards moving around flashily, DeJohnette's almost rock drumming, and Miles leading the band with his loud voice, putting on an incredible show that no one could stop! The youngest member of the group, Michael Henderson, was in particularly good form on this day's stage. The trademark booming funk bass, which is the key to the sound of the Miles Davis Group during this period, roars from start to finish, and what's great is that the bass sound, which was muffled in the previous releases, has been carefully mastered to give it a clear outline, creating a fantastic sound image that allows you to feel the greatness even more! Listen to the definitive version of the last stage at the world-famous Fillmore, which made Miles Davis' presence popular!
