More than 30 years have passed, but the Australian edition of Mick's 1988 solo tour still feels shrouded in mystery. I thought that the realization of the TV broadcast would be enough, but it turned out to be a very interesting tour as it continued to change. However, due to the nature of Australia, it was not blessed with audience recording, and on the contrary, there were days when the set list was still unknown (even though it was a 1988 live performance!), so it was literally a shrouded period. In fact, the excavation of "SYDNEY ENTERTAINMENT CENTRE 1988 2ND NIGHT" was a shocking discovery for maniacs that revealed the unknown side of the 1988 Australian tour that could not be seen by the TV broadcast "DEEP DOWN UNDER" alone. It was a recording of the Sydney performance on September 27th, but this time it was a completely first appearance audience recording on October 21st, when they returned to the same place a month later. In 1988, Australia had a week off in the schedule, and the set list, which was significantly changed from the Japanese performance six months ago, was replaced by new repertoires. Among them, the Stones classic "Get Off Of My Cloud" was a new repertoire that was incorporated into the set list after the off-season, but it was cut from the previous TV broadcast. Furthermore, there were very few sound sources that captured the stage where this song was played, and it was one of the repertoires that were covered in a veil in Australia in 1988. This new excavation has captured such a valuable repertoire with excellent sound quality. Although it is a mono recording, it is very easy to listen to with a very refreshing texture and a moderate sense of distance. Above all, the fact that an audience recording that is easy to listen to has appeared in Australia in 1988, where there are few sound sources, should be a sound source that will make enthusiasts go wild. The 1988 version of "Get Off Of My Cloud" that can finally be heard in this way is a speedy performance that is typical of Mick's solo tour, and the arrangement in which Joe Satriani plays the guitar riff with "Queen" is really fresh. The development of the medley from there to "Bitch" is also really cool, and it will remind you of the charm of the tour that has continued to evolve. Similarly, the medley from "One Hit Too The Body" to Jimi Hendrix's "Foxy Lady" and even rare repertoires unique to Australia in 1988 such as "Can't You Hear Me Knocking" are well covered. As for Disc-3, please think of it as a collection of bonus tracks. This is a collection of repertoires that were not performed on October 21st. In particular, the unreleased song "What Kind Of World Is This?" created from this tour was not only not performed on the 21st, but was recorded here as the first take on September 26th. The sound quality of these bonus tracks is also easy to hear, and the audience recordings are so good that you will want to hear the full-length versions. This is a surprising first-time sound source that is more valuable and fulfilling than that "SYDNEY ENTERTAINMENT CENTRE 1988 2ND NIGHT". No matter how many sound sources are unearthed from Mick's 1988 Australia, maniacs will be happy!
