Mick Jagger's first visit to Japan in March 1988 marked a huge page in the history of Western music in Japan. A masterpiece collection of professional shots commemorating the 30th anniversary has been decided to be released. The contents of the professional shot collection are the television broadcasts of that time. There have been similar video collections in the past, but this work is an extended version that lasts 47 minutes. A wide variety of broadcasts are spelled out by the finest masters, and are roughly composed of the following six types. Let's take a closer look at each one. [March 7: Narita Arrival Document] The first to appear is the television program "Good Morning! Nice Day", which captured Mick arriving at Narita Airport on March 7. The scene of the airport, which was crowded with media and fans, brings the atmosphere of the era to life. In addition, in the studio comments, Mr. Kame○da, a member of the Stones faction, talks about a very 80s feeling, saying "I'm not Horowitz, but I wanted to see Mick a little earlier," while an out-of-place commentator says something nonsensical like "I guess Japan is the last place to make money." This misunderstanding is also the best tickling. [March 8: Press Conference] Next is the press conference held the next day at the ANA Hotel Akasaka. There are three types: "You at 3 o'clock," "News Station," and "Good Morning! Nice Day." The first shocking one is "You at 3 o'clock." The program is a general audience living room program hosted by the great Showa era actress Mori○ko, and is broadcast almost without any time lag under the title "Rock Superstar Mick Jagger Finally Arrives in Japan." This alone clearly conveys the huge impact of his first visit to Japan, and Mori is amazing. "It's easy to remember in Japan. Let's remember it as 'nikujaga'," "rock nikujaga," he repeats over and over again. Mori is amazing, as he somehow makes you smile even at ridiculous jokes, and the seriousness of the other host, Noma○hei, who tries to change the topic without responding, is also touching. Another amazing thing is "News Station," which aired on the same day. In addition to the press conference footage, the program's own edit of "Satisfaction" is played. It's a live video of the 1969 Hyde Park concert, but it's overlaid with topical footage from the time of its release (1965). The topics are "Fuel loading at the Tokaimura nuclear power plant," "Fighting Harada becomes world champion," "Narita confirmed for New Tokyo International Airport," and so on. The idea of conveying the feeling of the times to the viewers is very news program-like, and it's a super rare version that was only possible because it was an "incident" that involved the general public. "Good Morning! Nice Day" is broadcast on the day after the press conference, "March 9th," and it's great to be able to watch the press conference for a long time. It's also amazing when you move to the studio. When the commentator says, "He was smiling and friendly, which was different from the image," Shintaro Kurimoto, who is a full-on fan, replies, "No, no, he's quite a dangerous person." This smug face that says, "I don't want you to underestimate our Mick"... "Even though you look like that, our senior is scary," is very understandable, but it's also embarrassing. [March 10th: Long Interview] The familiar "Best Hits USA with Mick Jagger". Recorded on March 10th and broadcast on March 23rd. This episode only features an introduction to the week's charts at the end, and almost all of the program is dedicated to Mick. The unusual structure alone conveys a special feeling. At the beginning, the live performance of "Under My Thumb" from "June 25, 1982: Wembley, London" (audio is from the official version) is also played, but even more than that, the long interview is wonderful, and there is no other interview footage this long at this time. Moreover, the content is also very rich. Even if we just pick up a little bit... "I proceeded carefully so that something like 15 years ago would not happen again," "I don't do long distance marathons. It's actually unhealthy," "I don't do choreography. I don't care about my image. I'm just myself," "Sometimes I get tired of rock," "Rock is momentum. If you do it many times, you get stuck in a mold," "I studied economics and political science at school. I should have done accounting instead (laughs)," "I was worried when I was choosing my path. I didn't think it would turn out like this," "When you program a drum machine, you have to sing along with it. Nowadays, everyone is mechanical," and so on. You can see a lot of sincere "musician Mick," which is completely different from the general public program. [March 15: Osaka performance + 20th: postponement notice] Next is a precious professional shot video of his visit to Japan! This is "Throwaway" from the "March 15: Osaka Castle Hall" performance. It is a short one-camera video with a program narration, but it is a treasure that allows you to see Mick's historic Japanese premiere in a professional shot. Even more shocking was the postponement notice that was broadcast on March 20th. It was shown during the live broadcast of the Hanshin vs Nankai exhibition game and during a horse racing program. "The rescheduled Mick Jagger performance scheduled for today has been canceled due to his condition not improving. The next rescheduled performance will be held on Monday, March 28th at Osaka Castle Hall." This is a video recorded by a maniac, but did they keep recording the broadcast for this notice? It's true that at the venue on March 19th, they said, "We will inform you with a notice (you can hear it on Disc 7)"... It's a frightening maniac spirit. [March 22nd: Tokyo performance] Another super rare pro shot! This is "News Station" that was broadcast on the Tokyo premiere on March 22nd. Suddenly, the beautiful Etsuko Ko○ appears and says, "Mick has come to Tokyo Dome!". And the second song of the day, "Throwaway," plays for about three minutes! Of course, the live performance will be broadcast on TV, but this is a one-off fully-diff video!! Both the multi-camera footage and the high-quality microphone sound are original. Furthermore, Hisahiro Hisa's comment is interesting. "Well, one of the points of rock music is the volume of the sound, but I think you can see that this makes recording even more difficult. It's quite different from the sense of realism," he says, almost like a bootleg commentary (laughs). In addition, "Good Morning! Nice Day," featuring a different version of "Throwaway" from the one on "News Station," is also included. The handwritten words "50,000 people singing 22 songs in a fever!" are thrilling, and the scenes sandwiched between super rare professional shots are also documented. The fans getting excited with the air band while waiting for the show to start, and the old lady looking at them suspiciously (did you come to see it too?) are also intense, and among the excited celebrities are people who have already passed away... [March 27: Tina Turner] And finally, a bonus recording of the best audience performance with Tina Turner was included. There was also a performance with Mick in Tokyo, but this is Tina's show. This is "Honky Tonk Woman" where Mick jumped in at the "March 27: Osaka Castle Hall" performance. This is the only audio, not video, but a wonderfully clear and superb audience. You can collect valuable performances that are easy to miss just by Mick's title. Mick's first visit to Japan, which shook Japan. The atmosphere, the documentary... this is the "scent of 1988" that was floating in Japan 30 years ago. This is a piece that spells it out with the best professional shots.
