The performance of M.S.G., led by Michael Schenker, in Wiesbaden, Germany on September 4, 1982, from the European tour after the release of "ASSAULT ATTACK", will be released using a new high-quality full-length audience master. This work will reveal the details of M.S.G.'s '82 European tour, the contents of which were almost unknown until now, with a sound image full of realism and directness! Under the management-led band strengthening measures, M.S.G. started production of a new album with a lineup including Graham Bonnet and Cozy Powell, but due to a clash with Michael, Cozy Powell left the band, and Graham's motivation also decreased, and the band quickly fell into an unstable state. They welcomed Ted McKenna as a replacement for Cozy on drums, and after the album was completed, they performed a warm-up gig for the "Reading Festival", but at this show Graham broke up with Michael, and the confusion in M.S.G. reached its peak. In this emergency, the band was forced to ask Gary Barden to return. Gary agreed, and M.S.G. was able to fulfill its important role as the headliner of the "Reading Festival". Thus, M.S.G. was formed with Gary, Ted, and Andy Nye on keyboards, and after the "Reading Festival", they started a European tour to promote "ASSAULT ATTACK". This work records the performance in Wiesbaden, Germany, which is the first half of this tour. The "ASSAULT ATTACK" tour, which began in the fall of 1982, is well known for the sound source of the Japan tour that took place in January 1983, and is supported by fans as the definitive version of the stereo soundboard sound source "GOD RETURNS REMASTER". Recently, fans were surprised by the appearance of "NEWCASTLE 1982" (Shades), a high-quality audience recording of the show in Newcastle, England in November 1982, but there is still a lack of sound sources to know the whole picture of the tour, and there is a demand for excavation of early live sound sources in particular. For that reason, the significance of the sound source from September 4, 1982, just after the start of the tour, appearing here is great, and this work can be said to be a must-listen for Michael Schenker fans. Although this recording is mono material, it is characterized by a clear outline and a solid edge that convinces the upper generation. The powerful sound image and excellent balance that make you feel close to the stage are among the best in contemporary audience recordings, and not only Michael's guitar sound, but even Chris Glenn's bass sound is clearly pronounced. In the remastering process, in order to further bring out this quality, the brightness has been further improved and the sound has been corrected to have a clearer sound, making the sound easier to listen to and more powerful. This German tour is thought to have been an opening circuit, and the set list is shorter than "NEWCASTLE 1982" and "GOD RETURNS REMASTER". The "ASSAULT ATTACK" live show featured a medley of the opening instrumental "Ulcer" to "Cry For The Nations," but this live show starts with a royal opening song "Armed And Ready," and the flow from "Cry For The Nations" to "Attack Of The Mad Axe Man" is almost the same as the "Reading Festival" on August 29th of the same year, which is also a point not to be missed. With the solid playing of Gary and Chris, the members who have supported Michael since the band's formation, the main guitar is also in good form. In particular, the solos and playing in "Attack Of The Mad Axe Man" and "Into The Arena" are thrilling and sharp, fully demonstrating his unique characteristics. The highlight of the first half of the live show is "Rock You To The Ground," the only song chosen from "ASSAULT ATTACK." Graham's vocal lines, which he carved with intense power and high tones, were tough on Gary's voice, and he was still struggling at this time. Considering the cohesive band ensemble and Gary's well-tuned singing heard in "NEWCASTLE 1982," this live performance feels like a developmental stage, but it seems to be an important take that shows that the band's performance has been polished from here. From here, the spotlight is on Michael's guitar, and the delicate "Bijou Pleasurette" and the masterpiece "Into The Arena" are the highlights of the live performance. The second half of the album, which is sandwiched between the guitar solo "Courvoisier Concerto," features Michael's heavy songs "Let Sleeping Dogs Lie" and "Lost Horizons," is also worth listening to, and you can see that the contrast between the energetic first half and the live performance is skillfully shaped. It's a shame that "Loking For Love" isn't included compared to the tours in the UK and Japan, but the set ends with "Are You Ready To Rock" and the encore song "Doctor Doctor", which are essential songs in Michael's live shows, are properly woven into the set, so fans will be able to listen to the entire hour-long live show in one go. After completing this European tour, including Germany, M.S.G. will expand their tour to the UK in November and Japan in early 1983. Considering that it put the band, which was in disarray at the time of the production of "ASSAULT ATTACK", on a stable track and led to the highly acclaimed "BUILT TO DESTROY" and its live performances in M.S.G.'s history, this '82 tour should be more well-known. This work is a must-see in terms of sound quality, performance, and value of the sound source. Live at Rheinwiesen, Wiesbaden, Germany 4th September 1982 TRULY AMAZING/PEREFCT SOUND 1. Intro 2.
