In response to fan requests, the classic live footage of the Michael Schenker Group at its peak is back! "ROCKPALAST 1981", a multi-camera pro-shot recording of Michael's performance in Hamburg, Germany, from 1981 when he welcomed Cozy Powell, has been decided to be released again! Michael Schenker's career reached 40 years in 2014. From their full-fledged debut with SCORPIONS, to the turbulent UFO era, to M.S.G. and their recent "MICHAEL SCHENKER'S TEMPLE OF ROCK," each of them is deeply imprinted in the memories of fans. Among them, the era in which he especially attracted cheers from fans and made a strong impression is the early M.S.G. That must have been from 1980 to 1981, when he was co-starring with Cozy Powell. Immediately after leaving RAINBOW, Michael's career definitely improved by acquiring Cozy, whose next departure was attracting attention. There are several known live performances by both of them, including the British tour and the American tour in the latter half of 1980, and there are many excellent audience recordings from the 1981 Japan tour. However, if you are a fan, you want to see the video of them competing. This work "ROCKPALAST 1981" has excellent professional shots that will satisfy fans' desire to see it! This work is a recording of the performance in Hamburg, Germany on January 24, 1981 from the local music program "Rockpalast". This video has recently been made official, but this work is based on the highest quality material from the on-air master, and is characterized by a texture that is different from the official one. This footage has been familiar to enthusiasts since the VTR era, but the master is clearly different from the footage from the video era, and the audio problem of "Armed And Ready" (3:14), which was confirmed in the previously released title, has been cleared. (Of course, the audio and sound conditions are also top-notch). Fans who are just starting to collect Michael's collector's items, or people who aren't usually interested in Schenker, will be able to casually take a look and enjoy this show. Of course, the content of the live performance is nothing short of spectacular. The 1981 lineup that veteran hard rock enthusiasts reflexively think of when they hear the words “MSG. live”, the collaboration between Michael and Cozy is very thrilling from the beginning. The flow from “Ride of the Valkyries” to “Armed And Ready” that plays at the opening will leave fans numb without any questions asked! The camera work, which uses many close-ups, accurately captures Michael's guitar playing, and the effective switching of multiple cameras allows you to enjoy the appearance of members such as Cozy and Gary Burden. It perfectly depicts the charm of this energetic band. Michael not only plays a sharp guitar, but also looks cool with his short hair. Cozy wears a shirt with the M.S.G. logo on the back and performs an impressive drum play. In addition to classics such as "Cry For The Nations," "Into The Arena," and "Lost Horizons," songs unique to the early days such as "Victim Of Illusion," "Feels Like a Good Thing," and "Looking Out From Nowhere" are wonderful. I'm glad you can enjoy the quality! In addition to the UFO number "Natural Thing", the promised "Rock Bottom" and "Doctor Doctor" are different in terms of their persuasiveness when played by Cozy. The approximately 65 minute performance until the climax "Lights Out" will entertain you all at once! As mentioned above, the live performance at this time had a rich sound source, but this work is still representative of the quality of the material that can be satisfied with professional shot footage. Please enjoy this performance, which can be said to be the best in the initial lineup, with an original menu and the highest quality image.
