During the "Bad" era, Michael Jackson and Quincy Jones often clashed musically. Michael favored the use of technology and synthesizers, while Quincy favored traditional acoustic instruments. "We would argue," Michael told Ebony magazine in 1987. "Sometimes we'd disagree. If we had a fight, it was about the new, the latest technology. I'd say, 'Quincy, music is always changing.' I want the latest drum sound that everyone's using. I want to surpass the latest." "Smooth Criminal" was Michael's favorite and was considered for the lead single and title track, but Quincy hated the song and didn't think it had enough merit to make the final tracklist. They also disagreed on the music's popularity. Quincy predicted that rap would become a mainstream genre, while Michael didn't. Quincy planned to have Michael record the anti-drug track "Crack Kills" with hip-hop heavyweights Run-D.M.C., but the plan fell through. "I brought Run-D.M.C. into the studio because I saw the future of hip-hop," Quincy told Billboard. "And then Michael told Frank DiLeo, 'I think Quincy's gone crazy and doesn't understand the market. He doesn't understand that rap is dead,' lol." The conflict between Michael and Quincy came to a head when Michael, opposed to re-recording with a live band, secretly rearranged Quincy's recordings in his home studio using a Synclavier sound. Quincy was furious and temporarily withdrew from the project. They eventually resolved their differences and agreed to a compromise, but Michael and Quincy were under increasing pressure to complete the album. It had already been postponed twice, and the release date was several months behind schedule. Michael was simultaneously filming videos and Pepsi commercials to promote his 16-month tour. His tour was scheduled to begin the week after the album's release, meaning the album needed to be completed by August 1987. The first track on Vol. 12, "Tod Mi Amor Eres Tu," meaning "All my love you are," is a Spanish version of "I Just Can't Stop Loving You." And "Je Ne Veux Pas La fin De Nous," meaning "I don't want the end of us," is a French version of "I Just Can't Stop Loving You." "Just Good Friends," written by Graham Lyle and Terry Britten, was recorded toward the end of the 1987 Bad sessions. Although uncredited, Stevie Wonder also participated. It's the only track on the album not released as a single. Therefore, no official remixes exist. Quincy Jones has also said, "Michael and Stevie Wonder's duet was a mistake." This disc includes a fan-made alternate version, a very pleasant Extended '80s Version, a cool Major Tourist Edit, a speedy, beat-driven DJ Beat Remix, the bass-heavy Reworked Bass Mix, and recordings from Spike Lee's BAD 25 documentary. "Get It" was written, composed, and produced by American singer-songwriter Stevie Wonder and released as the seventh track on his 21st studio album, Characters. Michael Jackson appears on guest vocals. Released as a single on May 5, 1988, it was the album's third single, peaking at number four on the R&B chart and reaching number 80 on the Billboard Hot 100. Michael and Stevie recorded their sixth collaboration and first duet, "Just Good Friends," in 1987. A few months later, in September, Michael returned the favor by contributing vocals to "Get It" with Quincy Jones at CBS/Sony Studios. Stevie later recorded it at Wonderland Studios, with writing by him and Gary Olazbal. This release includes the official full version of "Get It," an a cappella version, a DJ mix of "The Groovey Reworked Edition," and Michael's solo version. It also includes the Pepsi commercial version of "Bad." The lyrics are as follows: "I'll teach you, so show me what you've got. Never stop 'til you're satisfied. It feels good. Aim high, the choice's made. They say the sky's the limit, but nothing's stopping you. You're a brand new generation. And here comes Pepsi. You know I'm a badass. The whole world needs an answer now. I'll teach you the Pepsi way. It's cool." The album also includes the song "I Heard It Through The Grapevine," which features Michael singing backing on "Bad" with the California Raisins, an R&B group made up of personified raisins. 1.Tod Mi Amor Eres Tu (I Just Can't Stop Loving You) 4:10 2.Je Ne Veux Pas La fin De Nous (I Just Can't Stop Loving You) 4:07 3.Just Good Friends (Feat.
