A powerful stereo soundboard from Cliff Burton's lifetime is now available. This work records the "May 29, 1986 Eau Claire performance". Of course, it is a part of the "DAMAGE, INC. TOUR". Several soundboards have been excavated from the "DAMAGE, INC. TOUR" so far, and some are included on livemetallica.com and the currently popular "MASTER OF PUPPETS" deluxe box. However, this Eau Claire performance is not only different from all of them, but is also not known as a bootleg and was not even recorded by the audience. Such a treasured soundboard was recently broadcast by the Internet/satellite radio station "SiriusXM". This work is a CD version of that broadcast. First of all, let's check the position of the Eau Claire performance on the timeline at that time. {March 3rd release of "MASTER OF PUPPETS"} March 27th - June 21st: North America #1 (58 performances) ←★Here★ July 5th + 6th: Europe #1 (2 performances) July 11th - 25th: North America #2a (11 performances) {July 26th: James injured} July 27th - August 3rd: North America #2b (6 performances) September 10th - 26th: Europe #2 (13 performances) {September 27th: Cliff dies} This is the flow from the release of "MASTER OF PUPPETS" to Cliff's death. The Eau Claire performance of this work was the 42nd performance of the head "North America #1". It's surprising that it was the world's first appearance, but the quality is even more amazing. What's great is the neat sound! Of course, it is not a release sound board but a lively direct-connected sound board, but it is exceptionally beautiful among the line recordings excavated so far, and the genius Cliff's line is also clear. In the first place, it is a blessing to be able to listen to the Cliff era sound board, and the feel is quite wild. There were many that were on the verge of roaring. In contrast, if this work had been mixed a little more, I think it would have been possible to release it in real time at that time. Of course, even if it is that neat, the contents are violent METALLICA. The riffs roar like explosions, and the shouts are 100% desperate! Whether it is neat or beautiful, the destructive power that turned the world upside down is not diminished in the slightest. No, it is even more violent because it is super sensitive and straight to the details. It is probably the achievement of the official that such a sound was excavated. This work is only a broadcast, but the official also cooperated, and at the beginning of the program, Lars introduces the concert as a DJ. It's completely speculation, but I can't help but think that they left a secret sound board for the promotion of the "MASTER OF PUPPETS" deluxe box. This is also speculation, but about two minutes at the end of "Seek & Destroy" was left out of the box because it was missed (this work was supplemented with the sound board of the "May 24th Cape Girardeau performance"), but the quality is a superb sound of a dimension that should be officially released as part of the box. This work realizes such a "live album ...". Not only is it a full show recording that simply complements the missing parts, but the sound has also been upgraded with the aim of "the original official product". Of course, we did not imitate anything that would damage the original delicacy, but the original broadcast was a little muffled with an excessive echo feeling, perhaps because the excavation master was broadcast as it was. In this work, each range has been organized with the assumption that it will be enjoyed many times on CD. It has a clear and clear sound, and the heavy bass has a solid feeling. "If we were to release it as a work, not broadcast it, we would have done it this way" and "The sound on the spot would have been like this". The show depicted by that sound... you just have to listen to it. The band potential that created the great masterpiece "MASTER OF PUPPETS" is intact, and it is a flood of bold and carefree metal that is completely different from the neatly put together studio version. To be honest, it is quite rough and on the verge of collapse, but it is amazing because it does not shrink. It accelerates as if to say "So what?" This is the momentum of the revolutionary who was sweeping the world. Slash is all about the initial impulse, but this is a super powerful live album that has reached its climax. The treasure of the sound board brought out by the official. The final blow to the metalhead who was surprised and delighted by the "MASTER OF PUPPETS" deluxe box.
