While GUNS N' ROSES, VAN HALEN, and MOTLEY CRUE were all losing steam, METALLICA continued to reign as the leader of the scene in 1997. This is a superb audience shot. 1997 is remembered as the year that "RELOAD" was released, but it is also the year that "CUNNING STUNTS" was recorded. RELOAD will be released in the fall, but the show accompanying it will only be a promotional appearance on TV and other media. The tour will not begin until the following year, 1998. Meanwhile, the Moline performance of this work is the 10th performance of "North America #2". It was a concert about three months before "CUNNING STUNTS". This work recorded at such a show is an audience shot with a spectacular view. I wrote "no obstructions from the stands" ... but that may not convey the intense spectacular view.
