While GUNS N' ROSES, VAN HALEN, and MOTLEY CRUE were all losing steam, METALLICA continued to reign as the leader of the scene in 1997. A video work that allows you to experience the best of that big show has been decided to be released. This work was filmed at the Moline performance on February 5, 1997. This is a superb audience shot. 1997 is remembered as the year that "RELOAD" was released, but it is also the year that "CUNNING STUNTS" was recorded. In order to understand the situation around that, let's first look back at the schedule at that time. 1996 {June 4th release of "LOAD"} June 4th-24th: Promotion June 27th-August 4th: Appearance at Lollapalooza (22 shows) September 6th-November 27th: Europe #1 (53 shows) December 19th-31st: North America #1a (6 shows) 1997 January 2nd-11th: North America #1b (7 shows) January 24th-March 11th: North America #2 (34 shows) ←★Here★ March 25th-May 28th: North America #3 (39 shows) ←※CUNNING STUNTS August 22nd-24th: Europe #2 (3 shows) October 18th+19th: Bridge School Benefit (2 shows) ・ November 13-18: Europe #3 (9 shows) 《Reload released on November 18》 ・ December 8+18: TV appearances This is METALLICA in 1996/1997. RELOAD will be released in the fall, but the show accompanying it will only be a promotional appearance on TV and other media. The tour will not begin until the following year, 1998. Meanwhile, the Moline performance of this work is the 10th performance of "North America #2". It was a concert about three months before "CUNNING STUNTS". This work recorded at such a show is an audience shot with a spectacular view. I wrote "no obstructions from the stands" ... but that may not convey the intense spectacular view. It seems that a tripod is also used, and the bold zoom is attacked with a firm sense of stability, and the members are pursued from all angles only on the 360-degree stage. In fact, it is a one-camera audience shot, but the scenery that changes all the time is more fitting to call it a "solo multi-camera". And what further enhances this professional shot feeling is the powerful sound. This one also has no sense of distance, and the extremely thick core approaches in front of you, and the fine details reach your ears. While boasting the experience of being able to enjoy a full show seamlessly from one person's perspective, it also has the same appeal as a multi-camera professional shot. This is a super-entertaining video because METALLICA, who knows how to enjoy live performances, and a photographer who knows the taste of it were present. Such a super video depicts a full show that is a little different from "CUNNING STUNTS". Let's organize the set while comparing it here. Cliff Burton era: Kill 'Em All: Seek & Destroy (★) / Motorbreath; Ride the Lightning: Creeping Death / For Whom the Bell Tolls / Fade to Black / Fight Fire with Fire (★); Metal Master: Damage Inc. Jam (★) / Master of Puppets; Jason era: Metal Justice: Shortest Straw (★) / One; Black Album: Sad But True / Nothing Else Matters / Wherever I May Roam / Enter Sandman; Lord: Until It Sleeps / King Nothing / Ain't My Bitch / Hero of the Day; Others: Bad Seed Jam / Overkill (★) / So What? / Am I Evil? *Note: Songs marked with "★" are not included in the official video "CUNNING STUNTS". ...And so on. The "Kill/Ride Medley" from "CUNNING STUNTS" was a combination of six songs, but on this day "Fight Fire With Fire" was included in "Seek & Destroy". There were many other differences in detail, but the most delicious ones were "Overkill" and "Shortest Straw". The opening, which starts with a famous MOTORHEAD song, is unexpected, and the most aggressive number on "...AND JUSTICE FOR ALL" is unusually cool. Of course, there are plenty of highlights unique to the "POOR TOURING ME Tour". "King Nothing" with its huge lighting tower, "One" where the stage turns into a battlefield, "Enter Sandman" with its big accident gimmick, and more. You can also experience the familiar production from "CUNNING STUNTS" on site. METALLICA has remained a monster while other big bands have experienced ups and downs. This is a rare masterpiece video that allows you to fully experience the awesomeness and spectacle from a special seat. The "amazingness of the scene" that we would like those who think they know only from "CUNNING STUNTS" to experience. A super-spectacular audience shot of the POOR TOURING ME Tour, famous for its big accident gimmick, has been released. You can also experience the delicious full show of "Overkill" and "Shortest Straw" that cannot be seen in "CUNNING STUNTS" from a special seat.
