The pre-debut METALLICA demo album, which included Dave Mustaine, will be released. Speaking of the very early METALLICA demo sound source, the super masterpiece "NO LIFE 'TIL MEGAFORCE" is famous, but this work was very well received as a bonus. This is a collection of treasured demo tracks that do not overlap with the super masterpieces. To begin with, the circumstances of METALLICA's very early demos were extremely complicated. Many people may have no idea how many takes there are. First, let's organize the demo information. There are three main types of early METALLICA demos. Garage Demo (March-April 1982) Practice and composition rehearsals recorded in the garage Studio Demo (July 1982/March 1983) “NO LIFE 'TIL LEATHER” and “MEGAFORCE DEMO” Tane: Live demo (November 1982) Only ``LIVE METAL UP YOUR ASS''... and it looks like this. [Studio demo] is all summarized in the masterpiece "NO LIFE 'TIL MEGAFORCE", and [live demo] is OK with one gift title "LIVE METAL UP YOUR ASS". This work is a comprehensive review of the remaining [garage demos]. And the quality is also the highest ever. Most of the conventional demo boots do not disclose the origin of the sound source, and even if there are credits, people may mistake it for a different take due to the pitch error or generation difference, and in the worst case, it contains a degraded version of the official take. Some even do. However, for this work, demo enthusiasts from overseas chose only the takes that they thought were the best (they apparently researched over 100 takes). Furthermore, it is a collection of best versions unified with the correct pitch! [“Hit The Lights” of 2nd press “METAL MASSACRE”] The first thing that appears when you play this work is “Hit The Lights”, the second press take of the official compilation album “METAL MASSACRE”. Unlike the first take recorded in "NO LIFE 'TIL MEGAFORCE", Mustaine takes the lead throughout this one. The recording data for this take has not been disclosed, and it is generally said to be a take of “POWER METAL DEMO” (which also appears in the latter half of this work), but there are many enthusiasts who disagree with that. When you actually listen to it, it is clearly different from "POWER METAL DEMO" and seems to be closer to the "NO LIFE 'TIL LEATHER" take. In order for everyone to enjoy solving this mystery, we have reprinted it from the second press LP (MW 6363) and recorded it on the top (incidentally, this is the same take that was made into an official CD in 1994). [WHISKEY AUDITION TAPE (2 songs)] Starting from the second song, in chronological order, first is “WHISKEY AUDITION TAPE”. METALLICA, whose lineup consisted of James Hetfield, Lars, Mustaine, and McGoverney, began live performances in March 1982. This is the tape they made when they asked for a spot on SAXON's undercard and pitched it to the club "Whiskey A Go Go." This cover of NWOBHM bands SWEET SAVAGE and SAVAGE not only makes you feel their roots vividly, but the famous song "Let It Loose", which has not been officially re-recorded, is also very cool (prayers, re-recording!). [Rehearsal/Demo (6 songs, 8 takes)] At this time, METALLICA was practicing in McGoverney's garage and exploring their individuality. The fourth and subsequent songs are demos that capture the rehearsal and practice scenes. DIAMOND HEAD's cover and the first original "Hit The Lights" and "Jump In The Fire" are also very innocent versions, and it's still early days. James concentrates on vocals, and all guitars are played by Mustaine. The order of the songs (probably the order of recording) also follows the original cassette, so you can fully enjoy the growth process of getting used to the instrument itself. The 10th and 11th songs are composition session scenes, and the sound gets much better from here. I record riffs verbally as if I'm taking notes, and I consult while playing arpeggios. This is a realistic record of the live performance that produced a group of historical masterpieces. [POWER METAL demo (4 songs)] Up to this point, the songs were recorded in March 1982, but the remaining four songs were recorded in April. In the demo commonly known as “POWER METAL”, James picks up the guitar again. I still feel like I'm fumbling with my guitar solo, but I've improved like a different person in just one month. This super rapid growth further accelerated through live activities, and three months later in July, it culminated in the historic "NO LIFE 'TIL LEATHER". Unlike "NO LIFE 'TIL MEGAFORCE", which was recorded in a professional studio, this work, which was recorded in a garage, has a demo-like sound that may not be for everyone (especially the first half). However, that's why their roots, how they were when they were amateurs, are directly conveyed, and it is also realistic to see how they improve with each take, refine the songs, and improve the sound. If you have experience with bands, you may feel even more familiar with METALLICA by linking it to your memories. This kind of romance is unique to this work, which is neatly organized (unlike many demo boots) and can be listened to in chronological order. If you listen to this work → "NO LIFE 'TIL MEGAFORCE" → "KILL 'EM ALL" in this order, you can follow their progress from their first step to their debut. After that, METALLICA causes many revolutions, and Mustaine pursues them. Be sure to listen to the beginnings of these heroes who will change the music industry with your own ears!
