The climax and highest quality live album in the history of MEGADETH is now available. This work was recorded on February 21, 1991: Osaka Welfare Pension Hall. This is an audience album excavated from the prestigious Kinney's original DAT. This recording has reigned as a classic since that time, and is also known as “HANGAR 18”. This is not just a story limited to Japan, but is also highly praised on overseas collector sites as ``Tour Best'' and ``Every MEGADETH fan must listen.'' This work is a CD made directly from the original DAT of such a top-notch recording. In fact, in “HANGAR 18”, the Japanese MC “The new album is RUST IN PEACE”, which clearly shows the Japanese performance, and “Osaka!”, which specifies the venue, were cut, but in this work they are recorded in their entirety. It's 5 minutes longer in total length. However, such length is just evidence. The true awesomeness of the original DAT is its sound. This work, which was remade into a CD using modern technology that is on a different level from the primitive technology of the time, succeeded in transferring all the information that was contained in the DAT to the CD. The naturalness and freshness of the sound are so wonderful that you might think it's a completely different recording. It is the ultimate sound that goes even further than the sound that has been praised as ``tour best'' by core enthusiasts. Even though it has such transcendent quality, it cannot be said to be "the pinnacle of MEGADETH history". The live performance itself contained in that sound is the pinnacle. They came to Japan with the momentum of the historical masterpiece "RUST IN PEACE", and their performance was a heavy metal utopia that caused a whirlwind at the time. The “golden four” of Marty Friedman and Nick Menza will hit the exquisite ensemble and show off a show in a different dimension from MEGADETH, which had a sense of desperation up until then. Of course, the "Golden Four" continued for about 10 years after that, and they visited Japan many times during that time. However, this tour is truly special. Perhaps due to the trends of the times, after ``COUNTDOWN TO EXTINCITON'' the tempo slowed down significantly and progressed to Yokozuna Sumo, but during the ``RUST IN PEACE'' era, he maintained the super fast tempo he had seen since his debut. On top of that, he gallops through with an ensemble of incomparable precision. At the time, their performance was so smooth that it even became a topic of debate as to whether or not it was thrash metal, but their sparseness and sharpness were the sharpest in the history of MEGADETH. On the contrary, it was a superb live performance that is unparalleled in all of heavy metal history. For us Japanese people, this is a unique utopia that should be talked about on the same level as IRON MAIDEN or METALLICA's first visit to Japan. My pen slipped and I ended up writing, ``We Japanese.'' However, this work is not "special for Japanese people" but "special for metalheads around the world." In fact, there are some sound boards and professional shots even in the “RUST IN PEACE” era, where you can hear special performances in the entire history of MEGADETH. However, Kinney's previously released "HANGAR 18" is the pinnacle of the live album that depicts the full-scale show of the "RUST IN PEACE" era with the best sound, along with the official Wembley performance. It was a unique audience album (by the way, the Portland performance with the same level of sound is only 45 minutes). In other words, the famous recording among the famous recordings, which has reigned as the "top of the entire history of MEGADETH" for a quarter of a century, has appeared with the original uncut DAT sound that has directly breathed the air of the scene. This is no longer "because it's MEGADETH", "because it's Japan", or "because it's a Kinney recording". This is a record that shines especially brightly within the music genre of "HEAVY METAL" and the "audience recording" culture, and deserves to be honored as a "master record." It just so happens that such a musical legacy came out of Kinney's original DAT. Because of the audience, this recording will not leave its name in the history of music. But that's why it's a gem for those of us who know about the underground world. It is a human heritage that must be passed down.
