The golden age of the golden age, "COUNTDOWN TO EXTINCTION". The best footage of the secret club gig is now available. This work is intense! The footage is from the "Nottingham performance on June 3, 1993". In 1993, the band was scheduled to perform in Japan for the fourth time, but it was canceled due to Dave Mustaine's drug problem recurring. This is also the time when the Nippon Budokan, which Marty Friedman said was a "dream", ended as a dream. This work is a show that has just been revived after overcoming such a hiatus. This is a video that allows you to experience the "peak of MEGADETH", which would have been seen in Japan, in the closed space of a club. First of all, let's check the position of the show in this flow. [1992] "COUNTDOWN TO EXTINCTION" completed on April 28th. May 22nd - July 14th: Warm-up (4 shows) "COUNTDOWN TO EXTINCTION" released on July 14th. September 12th - October 27th: Europe #1 (34 shows). October 31st - December 31st: North America #1a (36 shows) [1993] January 3rd - February 12th: North America #1b (19 shows) - activities suspended. April 30th - May 10th: Japan (7 shows: cancelled!) - activities resumed. June 3rd - 22nd: Europe #2 (7 shows) ←★Here★ June 26th - July 19th: North America #2 (12 shows) This is the overall picture of the "COUNTDOWN TO EXTINCTION TOUR" at its peak. It was a much smaller scale than METALLICA's "BLACK ALBUM" era, and it was finally time to conquer the world! You can see that they fell over. The Nottingham performance in this work was the first of such activities "Europe # 2". It was a secret gig held under the name "VIC & THE RATTLEHEADS". This work, which contains such a show, is an extremely wonderful audience shot. It is a diagonal shot from the left side of the stage (towards Marty), but the view is wide and super clear. When it comes to club audiences, many of them are shot so that they slip through the heads and arms of the audience, but this work is completely different. Looking directly at the stage over the heads of the audience, zooming in is used so much that half of Mustaine's body fills the screen, and even the facial expression of the beard-faced Mustaine (who was conscious of James Hetfield, perhaps?) that was only available at this time is clear. Although there are some parts that go out of frame, you can continue to stare at the peak of MEGADETH without being bothered by the shadows of the front row. Of course, the sound is clear and worthy of the spectacle. Perhaps it was filmed by the band to check the first performance of the revival. There are no details left, but it is a perfect position that can only be thought of as such, and the way of holding the highlights is perfect. [Warming up for a historic performance with METALLICA] Such quality depicts a passionate performance that is the pinnacle of all time. The set is a golden best selection of songs, with plenty of masterpieces from "COUNTDOWN TO EXTINCTION". In addition to the big classics, there are also numbers unique to that time such as "Foreclosure Of A Dream", "This Was My Life", and "Lucretia", and "Liar" sharply revived by Marty and Nick Menza. "Sweating Bullets", where the chorus shakes the club despite it being a new song, and "In My Darkest Hour" where Nick comes forward and takes the MC... everything is amazing and cool! What's more, there is a lot of heat in each song. In fact, MEGADETH at this time was not just a resumption of activities. In fact, "Europe #2" was the first joint tour with METALLICA. The Milton Keynes performance where the two major bands declared reconciliation is particularly famous (you can enjoy it on the super famous sound board "BULLSHIT IS OVER! (Zodiac 108)"), but this work was two days before that. It is a warm-up gig for that historic event. That's why the performance of this work is different from just a warm-up. In front of tens of thousands of spectators, it is a head-on battle to share the stage with METALLICA, who reached their peak. The passion to face such a big game in life is filled in the small club. Despite the peak, the "COUNTDOWN TO EXTINCTION" era has few records due to the interruption of the tour. In particular, the video had to rely on a few (sloppy) professional shots. This is an exquisite and superb video that will clear up that frustration. The band potential that created the most successful masterpiece in Mustaine's life, and the passionate performance that burns in a direct confrontation with the eternal rival. All of this is packed into a closed room, making this a scorching hot album.
