The secret footage of the new name DREAM THEATER is now available in ultimate quality. This work contains a home video filmed by Charlie Dominici himself immediately after he joined the band. This video has been famous among traders for a long time, but this work is a genuine master released by Dominici himself! The quality is overwhelming. The video era was known for a rather harsh generation with faded colors, and the color master we unearthed at our store has been considered the definitive version. However, this work is not that far away. Of course, it was filmed by an amateur on a handy home video, but the color and details are incomparable to anything we've seen before. There is no deterioration over time, and the visual beauty is as stunning as if it was filmed yesterday. The shocking master quality depicts them honing their skills in the basement with the aim of becoming professionals. The members are the five of them from "WHEN DREAM AND DAY UNITE", but they are all young men in their twenties (only Dominici is 36 years old). They look like "American metal kids" fooling around in front of the camera, but when they start playing, they're no ordinary kids. They play ferociously and relentlessly. Moreover, their dream theater ensemble is completely different from thrash metal and Yngwie. They are developing a progressive metal that will rewrite history, relying on their youth. And the development is quite advanced. They have already played the masterpieces "A Fortune In Lies" and "The Ones Who Help To Set The Sun" from "WHEN DREAM AND DAY UNITE", and although the guitar solo of the former and the melody line of the latter are different from the album, the rest of the arrangement is complete. At 20 years old, the seeds of a revolution were already laid... They also play an unfinished instrumental jam and a cover of Robert Johnson's (or rather, CREAM's) "Crossroads", all of which are full of fierce performance skills. At first glance, Mike Portnoy, who looks like Slash from Guns, bangs away with super-fast technical technique, John Petrucci, who walks around with a silly step while his fingers move at high speed, and Dominici, who sings with that unique high tone. You can witness the seeds of "WHEN DREAM AND DAY UNITE" that sprouted in a dirty basement in master quality. The puffy hair, the youthfulness of putting "FCK*UPS" in the subtitles, the home video editing with color inversion and screen splitting, the handmade feel of connecting the carefully shot drum solos... Everything is amateurish, but the music and performance are the real thing. This is a very realistic documentary of the revolutionaries who were honing their music in the basement a year after leaving Berklee College of Music. This is the ultimate rare video work that depicts such precious footage from 30 years ago with the master of Dominici himself who shot it.
