Linda Ronstadt returned to Japan in 1981 to participate in a major West Coast rock event. An original recording of a new excavation that allows you to experience the scene is now available. What is infused into this work is “September 11, 1981 Yokohama Stadium Performance”. This is an excellent audience recording recorded at one act of “THE CALIFORNIA LIVE” held at two venues in Yokohama and Osaka. Speaking of “THE CALIFORNIA LIVE in Yokohama”, the transcendent sound 4CD “YOKOHAMA STADIUM 1981” of all 4 groups that appeared is also fresh in my memory, but this work is a completely different recording from that. It is a new master that will be released for the first time worldwide. And what is surprising is the sound. Anyway, it's super clear with no sense of distance! Each instrument is neatly separated without mixing each other, and the outline is clear and distinct. Linda's singing voice is so full of flesh that you'd think it's being blown directly into a taper microphone, and even the sound of her breathing is so clear. The reason for this is of course the equipment/techniques of the recorders, but in addition, the venue seems to be large. As you know, Yokohama Stadium is an open space with no roof or ceiling to reflect sound. This allows you to pick up the output sound directly without the bleed-in elements of hall noise. However, that doesn't mean it's as simple as saying, ``If it's outdoors, it's definitely going to be a great recording.'' Not only is it difficult to control the sound, but if you are far away from the PA, it will become sparse all at once, and if the sound is carried away by the wind or wind noise itself comes in, it will be ruinous. However, this work has no such negative elements at all. It perfectly utilizes the flavor of the outdoors, which is said to be ``difficult, but if you record it well, it will be exquisite.'' What is depicted with its brilliant clear sound is a treasure chest filled with famous songs from the heyday, centering on the huge hit in Japan, "MAD LOVE." Speaking of Linda in the early 80s, “LIVE IN HOLLYWOOD”, which was discovered in 2019, comes to mind, but the set of this work is similar and different. Let's compare and organize them here. Bad You (4 songs) ・Willin'/I Can't Help It (If I'm Still in Love With You) (★)/Faithless Love/You're No Good ・It's So Easy/Blue Bayou/Poor Poor Pitiful Me Gekiai (5 songs)・Mad Love (★)/Party Girl (★)/I Can't Let Go/Hurt So Bad/How Do I Make You Others (2 songs)・Don't Cry Now: Desperad Miss America: Back In The U.S.A. *Note: Songs marked with a ★ are not available on the official version of LIVE IN HOLLYWOOD. ...and it looks like this. Not only the set but also the back is very similar to “LIVE IN HOLLYWOOD”, but it is still different. Wadi Wachtel and Leland Scholar also participated, as they shared it with James Taylor and JD Souther on the day. In "I Can't Let Go," Rosemary Butler sings with Linda. To be honest, the 4-disc set "YOKOHAMA STADIUM 1981 (Zion-134)", which has been preserved permanently, is so miraculous that it was introduced by Uxbridge, but originally this work was also made into a press. This is a great recording that should be made. Zion-134 is a must-have for those who love the West Coast sound and want to fully experience the event, but this work is also suitable for those who think ``a 4-disc set is too heavy'' or ``I'm not interested in anything other than Linda.'' A piece that you can easily enjoy. Of course, this is a superb live album that is a must-have for collectors who want to enjoy the big event from a separate seat. A superb audience recording of the "September 11, 1981 Yokohama Stadium Performance" that participated in a major West Coast Rock event. It is a completely different recording from the 4CD "YOKOHAMA STADIUM 1981", and it is super clear with no sense of distance! Each instrument is neatly separated without mixing each other, and the outline is clear and distinct. When it comes to Linda's singing voice, it is so full of the feeling of a real voice that you would think that she was singing it directly. This is a masterpiece from Japan that includes famous songs that can't be heard on the official excavation album ``LIVE IN HOLLYWOOD,'' such as ``Mad Love,'' ``Party Girl,'' and ``I Can't Help It (If I'm Still in Love With You).''
