"Gallagher Brothers Solo Activity Review Week" is an essential storyline for discussing the reunion! This is Liam Gallagher. The 2019 MTV Unplugged concert marked a vendetta against the band's 1996 cancellation. While official live recordings have been released, the large number of songs not included and the track order was significantly altered were major drawbacks. This album overcomes all of these flaws, perfectly capturing the most beautiful performances! The songs that led to the reunion and Liam's continued success are a must-listen! Already five years since its release, Liam's solo MTV Unplugged concert already evokes nostalgia. However, not only were several songs cut from the recording, but the editing was far removed from the actual setlist, resulting in a finish typical of official live albums. Furthermore, due to the MTV nature of the concert, there were songs that were broadcast on television but not on the album, and even differences in the editing of the official MTV stream, resulting in content variations that are rare for an official live release in recent years. This time, we've mobilized all currently available recordings to faithfully recreate the setlist, creating the definitive MTV Unplugged! While two previously unreleased Bob Marley covers, "Natural Mystic" and "Bold," were omitted, this recording still captures the longest and highest-quality full-length stereo soundboard recording available. Essentially, this is the longest version, combining the live album plus the TV broadcast's "For What It's Worth" and "Why Me? Why Not." along with the MC, but it's actually a painstakingly crafted production. Of course, even with the same stereo soundboard, the TV broadcast used a downmixed stereo mix from the 5.1ch broadcast, eliminating any sound quality discrepancies. In fact, the sound quality is unified, even deeper than the official release. By correcting the track order, the resulting live album completely surpasses the original. Since this live performance featured a female chorus and an orchestra, the sound quality is even more impressive, with even greater depth. The highlight is the MC before "Greedy Soul" supplemented from the official MTV streaming version. Furthermore, the streaming codec used was not AAC but Opus audio, the highest quality available for streaming! This means that rather than simply compiling tracks not included on the live album, the longest possible version was achieved by utilizing the highest quality takes of existing recordings. As a result, the running time is about nine minutes longer than the Japanese release with bonus tracks. Now that Oasis has reunited, the lyrics of "One of Us" are especially moving, and the selection of songs still performed by current Oasis band members, such as "Some Might Say" and "Cast No Shadow," seems like a hint at a reunion. The unplugged, soft arrangement of the former song in particular remains fresh. Furthermore, the way they performed this song, which they sometimes struggled to sing even during their pre-disbandment Oasis days, with a performance that's even better than it was back then, perfectly conveys the implication of a reunion. Additionally, by this time, Bonehead's guest appearances at Liam's live shows had become a regular occurrence. That's why, before performing "Once," Liam made a reference to the song title, saying, "This is Bonehead's second appearance (on this show)," and it's a moving moment for Liam himself to finally get revenge for his 1996 cancellation during his time with Oasis. Perhaps this reunion has temporarily "sealed" away for now? The unplugged performance also allows us to rediscover the charm of Liam's solo material. That's why the difference between the live album's editing, which completely disrupted the track order, and this recording, with its correct track order and maximum length, is so stark. Enjoy this beautiful performance and sound to the fullest with this superb stereo soundboard album.
