Leon Russell passed away at the age of 74 at his home in Nashville, Tennessee on November 13, 2016. Since the late '60s, he has participated in numerous recordings as a session musician and producer, establishing the swamp music genre that had a major influence on Clapton, George Harrison, and the Stones. By the early '70s, he had already become a charismatic figure. This tribute album compiles about four hours of live footage from the early '70s, the peak of his career. The contents are the 1971 studio live with Shelter People "HOMEWOOD 1971", the recently unearthed 1972 TV live in Sweden (with time code), and the 1972 live recording "BEST OF LEON RUSSELL 1972" which was once sold overseas and recorded at the same time as the famous live album "LEON LIVE" released in 1973. All three must-see videos are professionally shot in the best quality. In addition, the video clip includes the eternal classic "A SONG FOR The album includes "A Song for You" with Japanese translated lyrics and bonus footage of three songs sung solo by Leon when he was a house band at "shindigs" in the 60s. Disc 3 also includes a complete recording of a gig held at a small club in New York on February 21, 2015, in his final years, with audience shots filmed by fans. The camera angles are good from start to finish, and just like in the 70s, Leon sings a raging medley of songs, weaving in MC talks about Bangladesh and Miss Odell, and featuring plenty of his signature songs such as "A Song for You," "Delta Lady," and "Dixie Lullaby." At the beginning of the album, a recording of "A Song for You" with Edgar Winter from a TV live performance in the 80s is also added, making for a total of 102 minutes that is also a must-see.
