Her popularity soared especially in Western Europe and Australia, and in West Germany she won the gold award given by a celebrity magazine to the singer who was most active in 1978. Her November 1978 release, "I Was Made for Dancin'" (Japanese title: "Dance ni Muchu"), reached 10th place on the Billboard Hot 100, 2nd place in Australia, 4th place in the UK, and 12th place on the Japanese Oricon chart. In Japan, it became a big hit after being used in a commercial for Nabisco Idaho potato sticks in which Garrett appeared, and NEW YORK CITY NIGHTS was later covered by Toshihiko Tahara as his debut song "Aishuu Deito", and following the success of the Tahara version, it was promoted again with the A and B sides reversed, reaching a peak of 76th place on the Oricon chart.
