The highly anticipated "924" 6-disc set includes the second day of the 1971 performance at the Budokan on September 24th, the second day of the first performance in Japan, recorded in two versions, including the first stereo source! This second day performance at the Budokan has been recorded since the analog LP era, and LPs with different sources, "IN CONCERT" (OG) and "SUPER STARS!" (LLX), have been confirmed. However, both types are rare and it is thought that not many fans obtained the actual ones at the time, and many people first heard these two sound sources on the CD in the remastered box set of TDOLZ, which reprinted these analog LPs in 1999. After the analog LP release, new movements in the sound source of this day were seen in the 1990s, when the release of CD items began to become more active. First, in 1992, the nostalgic Bad Girl Songs released "DESTROYER: RE・MASTERED" (2CD), a copy edit of the Scorpio Archive Prouctions album, had only one song, "Since I've Been Loving You", recorded quietly from tape as a bonus, and this was the third recording to be released that day. This was the first "924" recording to be released on CD. Moreover, this recording was only recorded once, and it is a mysterious recording that has not yet been released in a full-length version. Although the sound image is distant, it is a very excellent recording that is clear and stable compared to other recordings released in later years. In 1993, when the release of performances in Japan began to become more active, "AFTERNOON DAZE" (3CD) from the nostalgic Mud Dogs and "PRETTY WOMAN" (3CD) from the old Tara were released as full-length live recordings using the fourth recording at almost the same time. These two items were the first to reveal almost the entire picture of this live performance, which was shrouded in mystery, despite the harsh sound quality. Although they were released almost at the same time, the editing process was different, and the old Tara was a better title with a complete recording. However, compared to the first day performance on the 23rd, when high-quality sound sources such as "FRONT ROW" were released at the same time, the performance on the 24th was a little plain in terms of items, due to the harshness of the sound source material, and it was not until TDOLZ's "LIGHT & SHADE" (3CD) released in 1997 that it was widely highlighted. Here, the fifth and sixth sound sources, which have significantly superior sound quality, make their debut. The fifth sound source is a recording from "Immigrant" to "Illusion", and is probably a tape owned by this label (I'm not sure, but it's probably true), and it will be used from the same label series with repeated mastering and changes in the contents of the recording. The sixth recording is from Heaven onwards, and although the low range is crushed, the sound balance is fresh, making it a major upgrade from the previous recordings. In 2001, TDOLZ's successor WT released "TIMELESS ROCK" with the sixth recording from Immigrants to Illusions. Since then, this sixth recording has become popular when released as the overall best recording of the 924 recordings. Then in 2008, EVSD released the first 924 item. Surprisingly, this was the first time that the sixth recording was featured throughout the entire album on a 3CD set. The following year, 2009, a 4CD title was released under the name Scorpio by TDOLZ and WT, which combined the sixth and fifth recordings. And in recent years, a 3CD title featuring the fourth recording in its entirety was released by No Label a few years ago. I have briefly reviewed the flow of the 924 performance-related records, but this title, the first appearance of the stereo audience recording (Disc 1-3) and the most popular 6th sound source of the 924 sound source (Disc 4-6), are the titles that can be said to be the definitive 924 album. First, an explanation of the stereo audience recording part that appeared for the first time on Disc 1-3. This stereo sound source was borrowed from a cassette and made into a CD. It is probably about the 1st Gen, and the sound contains a lot of hiss noise, but what is surprising is that it was recorded in the first stereo sound of the 924 performance (all previous sound sources were mono sound sources). It has a moody texture and is slightly less clear than the 6th sound source, but the sound captured close enough to the stage is a powerful sound with outstanding realism. As mentioned earlier, the sound contains a lot of hiss noise, and the microphone position changes in places, so around "Since I've Been Loving You" and "Black Dog", the sound becomes almost monophonic, and the low range is also crushed around here, making the future look shaky, but the stereo sound returns again from "Illusion", and from then on, it is recorded with a stereo sound until the end, but it is recorded with a muffled sound. In addition, the low range extension is excellent, and "Heartbreaker", "Illusion", "Moby Dick", and "Full of Heart" are recorded with a wonderful extension sound from beginning to end, and considering that Source 6 recorded on Disc 4-6 this time has a problem with the crushed sound in the low range and tastes are divided, this can be said to be a miraculous recording. In terms of the contents, cuts were confirmed in several places, and first of all, the immigrants are disappointed with the cut-in, but this is not discouraged and is compensated for seamlessly with Source 6. It will be back and forth, but the live intro part is connected with Source 4 and Source 6. Source 4 is also a unique source, not an online source, and is a version where you can clearly hear the host's "John Bonham!" at the beginning. This is probably the second title to be recorded in the past without fading the introduction of "John Bonham" after the No Label version of "924". You can also tell from the texture of the sound and the pattern of hiss noise that it is not a copy of the "924" version. In addition, the final part of "Illusion", the intro part of "Mune Ippai", the beginning of the organ solo of "Thank You", and the ending of Communication are appropriately supplemented with Source 6. There were also cuts between several songs, so these were also supplemented with Source 6 to make it a pseudo-complete live recording. Disc 4-6 is mainly compiled from Source 6. This is also not an online source (※ There are no sound sources on the Internet that are not CD copies of the 924 sound source), and the sound is as natural as EVSD. However, even though it is a natural sound, the collapse of the low range is the same as before. Even so, there have been surprisingly few titles that have recorded this source 6 in perfect condition, and in EVSD there was a mistake in pitch adjustment with Tangerine, and in TDOLZ and WT-based Scorpio, the EQ processing was more or less divided. Therefore, this Disc 4-6 aims to be the best version of the natural sound version of source 6. As for source 6, it is of course not a copy from a previously released CD, and you can understand that it is not a previously released copy from the timing of the change from source 4 to source 6 in the intro part and the length of the various edited parts. The cuts between the songs "Thank you" and "Communication", the final tail part of the applause for the encore at the live ending, etc. have all been faded, but this board is a slightly longer cutout that has not been edited for differentiation. In any case, fans are familiar with the terrible low-frequency crushing sound source when the bass or bass drum is introduced, so it's no wonder that it's "that", but the acoustic set has a great sound balance, and depending on how you listen, it sounds like a line sound source, and if you think you're listening to it in front of the stage, this loud explosion sound is also good. The only part of this board is about 30 seconds around "Illusion" CD time 9:35-10:06, which is a copy compensation (this itself is the first attempt of this label). The adopted sound source is source 5, which is a copy from the already released WT series Scorpio. This source was not found among traders and was copied this time, but as mentioned earlier, the original use is only TDOLZ and WT series Scorpio, and I guess (not sure) that there are no sound sources that are not CD copies of this sound source in the underground, but I wonder. Also, around "Moby Dick" CD time 3:20-3:47 was compensated with this new stereo source. In all past releases, the only way to compensate for this was with Source 4, which is harsh in terms of sound quality, and the compensation with this new source, which is far superior to Source 4, is a slight advantage of this board. Furthermore, at the end of Disc 6, it is a good opportunity to specially remaster Source 3 "Since I've Been" from the aforementioned BGS board, which is uncredited. When the cassette of Disc 1-3 was provided this time, the first thing I thought was that this cassette might be a full-length version of the sound source recorded on the BGS board. After digitizing and examining the cassette, I found that it was a completely new sound source, but I became even more curious as to why only one song, and only "Since I've Been", was selected and recorded on the BGS board. If Mr. Taper is still alive, I would love to hear some episodes related to the recording of the BGS board. Live at Budokan, Tokyo, Japan 24th September 1971 Disc 1 (52:09) 1.
