With the first-ever documentary film officially authorized by the band's members, "Led Zeppelin: Becoming," scheduled for release in Japan in September 2025, there's renewed interest in unearthing footage of their live performances. This latest release, featuring footage from the opening night of their 1971 Japan tour at the Budokan, arguably the most significant discovery of recent years, has been restored to the original 8mm film by the original master using cutting-edge equipment and technology. While the 8mm footage, originally released as a historic find, was a rare source material and garnered worldwide buzz when it was released in 2020, this new release boasts even more footage and several levels of improved quality for enhanced viewing. Additionally, missing segments have been filled in with still images to recreate the live atmosphere of "Black Dog" and "Stairway to Heaven." It turns out these two tracks were not filmed at the time, as the album "IV" had not yet been released and the filmmaker was unfamiliar with them. The editing is also excellent, with the use of self-recorded audience audio from "Dazed and Confused" onward and the confusion that occurred during the finale, "Communication Breakdown," presented in a documentary-style manner. Disc 2 also includes a restored version of the much-talked-about "Led Zepfilm," which has been upgraded to a clearer, more watchable quality that would not be out of place in a movie. Including this, the total of 1 hour and 45 minutes is a must-see for fans, elevating the legendary first Japan performance to the highest level. Disc 1 1. Intro 2. Immigrant Song 3. Heartbreaker 4.
