A Japanese TV special focusing on the eternal masterpiece "Stairway To Heaven" is here. This work is a late-night music documentary program that was broadcast on July 20, 2003, the month after the release of the video work "LED ZEPPELIN DVD". It is an air check video saved by a recording enthusiast. The content uses all of the 30-minute frame and seriously confronts the song "Stairway To Heaven". Our shop has delivered many historical Japanese programs, but most of them were seen with a bitter smile, as the consciousness of Western music of the era was transparent. However, this work is a recent broadcast, so it has a completely different taste. The scenery of Wales, which was the source of inspiration, the scenery of Bron-Y-Agh, and the recording of Headley Grange are also featured. Not only Jimmy Page himself, but also his manager at the time, Phil Carson, and Roy Harper, who had a great influence on the members of ZEP at that time, are also interviewed, and they look at the days when the song was composed and recorded. The depth of the song is not limited to the music, but also delves into the meaning of the lyrics (it seems natural that Plant doesn't appear, but it's a shame!). It would be a problem if you misunderstood here, but Page does not provide a detailed explanation of those abstract lyrics. Both Page and Harper talk a lot about that time, but rather they value the fantasy of the song, and the more they talk, the more mysterious and deep it becomes. That is what makes it a masterpiece, but to be honest, I would have liked to have the person's answer given in the detailed explanation. Actually, although they give hints such as "Robert uses the word 'rock' to mean 'earth'" and "It's great that he introduced it as a 'song of hope,'" they do not provide any more specific interpretations. Page, who appears on this program, says, "It can be interpreted in various ways. That's what music should be," as if he can see through the screen to the psychology of those who want an answer. It makes you feel startled and convinces you that this is fine. So, is it just a list of ordinary goody-goody comments? Well, that's not the case either. Harper said, "I don't sing love songs like Elvis. But Robert loved Elvis," and added, "He probably didn't question the Beatles' "All You Need Is Love" or the existence of God. He was loved." However, Plant spoke of his own changes from their interactions, and testified, "But one day, he asked me a question about God. He understood me in his own way (that's the lyrics to "Stairway to Heaven"). This is the depth of this work and this program. Harper himself said, "'Stairway to Heaven' would have been written without me," but the deep words that only the people who lived together in that era and influenced each other speak on a philosophical level. Then, he plays and sings "The Same Old Rock," which can be said to be the Harper version of that message. Whether it's "Stairway To Heaven" or "The Same Old Rock," the program's own translation (based on comments) is displayed in Japanese subtitles, and the true meaning and thoughts are conveyed more deeply and directly than a stale commentary.... While delving into the reality of the masterpiece, its depth is not lost in the slightest. This is because "Stairway To Heaven" is such a masterpiece, but the program's attitude of reflecting philosophy without any sense of gossip is also wonderful. Even in modern times, the Japanese media is still dominated by the disgusting "Geino world" atmosphere, but there are definitely people among them who "know it". This is a program that even that fact feels lovable. Today, we are in an age where people who are excited and burned by ZEP take on important positions in the media. "Stairway to Heaven" and ZEP's music have withstood the test of time and are still alive today. This is a piece that makes you feel the "weight of history" and the "power of music" that will not be lost in a different sense from vintage programs. This is a great piece to get to the essence of a classic song and to feel its charm that transcends time and space.
