Recently, our store has been constantly releasing Led Zeppelin's second performance in Japan, and among them, the second day in Osaka on October 9th, which has the reputation of being the best performance of the performance in Japan, is a series. At the time of the release of this title, our store was in a different situation from the current situation where we can obtain a number of sound sources from the 1972 performance in Japan, so we decided to take this opportunity to release the 1972 sound source. Rather, it was released with the title concept as a sequel to “THE UNPROCESSED 929” from the first performance in Japan that was released before that. Indeed, the concept last year was to turn such excellent audience recordings into CDs in an “UNPROCESSED” state, centering on Mike Millard’s transcendent audience recordings. However, since the beginning of this year, our store has continued to release the 72 years of performances in Japan, starting with the first day of Budokan, and there are increasing calls for the release of 109, also known as Osaka, on the second day. To put it simply, there was even a request to reissue 109 with that jacket design that started on the first day of Budokan. Although it hasn't been a year since its release, the fact that "THE UNPROCESSED 109" has been more than half a year since Sold Out and the constant demand for this sound source is due to the fact that it is one of the great performances of the 1972 tour to Japan. That's why. On top of that, the recording state boasts amazing quality. Along with the first day at Budokan, this is an ultra recording that was performed in Japan in 1972. In that case, should we consider re-releasing “THE UNPROCESSED 109”?When that kind of atmosphere started to drift among our staff, we obtained a version of the same sound source from a different route. Of course, it is natural that the master tape of the audience recording is used this time as well, but last year's "THE UNPROCESSED 109" is based on a version transferred from the master by tapers who started the trade that was becoming popular at the time at the beginning of the 21st century. It had become. On the other hand, this time it is based on a version that has been digitally transferred from the master again in recent years. Even though the sound source is originally the same, the technology to digitize analog tapes has improved dramatically over the past ten years. As a result, this time as well, we have achieved a recording in which the wonderful original sound quality remains intact, while the warmness and naturalness stand out. If you listen and compare, you'll understand, but the point here is that it's because it increases the resolution of a more faithful sound source, which is completely different from equalization due to its natural degree. If "THE UNPROCESSED 109" had a big appeal with its thin lines and an analog-like taste that was different from the warm sound, this version revives the master's original sound quality, which could not be fully expressed, into the modern era. I assure you! As a further advantage, the pitch modulation up to the middle of the opening “Rock And Roll”, which was the most noticeable problem in this sound source, was recorded in a more neat state. This is a problem that has already been carefully adjusted in "THE UNPROCESSED 109", but this time I was surprised by the stability. You will be under the illusion that it was originally recorded in such an accurate state. Another is the rapid pitch rise in the "Everybody Needs Somebody To Love" part of the "Whole Lotta Love" medley. This was a problem that had been overlooked in "THE UNPROCESSED 109", but this time it has been corrected, and the sound source that has been popular among maniacs since "TAPES FROM THE DARKSIDE" is finally fully restored. It will be released in this condition. However, this time's sound source, "The Rain Song", had a new problem of unstable pitch. That is a problem that does not exist in the original sound source of “THE UNPROCESSED 109”, and it seems to be a result of the tape deteriorating over the past ten years. However, we have thoroughly adjusted this issue as well, so you will be surprised at how natural and stable the situation is, just like the troubles mentioned above, that you won't notice at all unless you are told about it. Although 109 is highly praised for its excellent performances, when I listen to and compare it with recent releases from our store, I feel that the first half of the live performance was actually better on the first day of Osaka on October 4th. In addition, the acoustic “Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp” that was played on the 4th was omitted, so the atmosphere is rather similar to the Kyoto performance. As is well known, this may have been due to the fatigue from the bullet trip to Hong Kong that ZEP took between the Nagoya performance and 109. A phenomenon that was often seen at the 1972 tour to Japan was that the early part of the show was laid back, but when the new song "The Song Remains The Same" came around, the whole band gave a ball of fire performance that seemed to come together as one. The scene where the voltage rose was noticeable here as well. Moreover, it is surprisingly valuable that Plant sings "The Song Remains~" with the same melody line as the album version, and such a singing style is also short-lived in "Over The Hills And Far Away" and "The Ocean". What ended in. In any case, there is no doubt that ZEP, which caught fire there, made “Dazed And Confused” the best version of the 1972 performance in Japan. The performance with the most tricky development is enough to foretell the coming 1973 European tour. Even more, the scene where Plant hums the song before starting the solemn “Stairway To Heaven” and makes the venue excited (Funikuri Funikura style) was a scene with plenty of room reminiscent of 929 of the previous year.
