The legendary night that gave birth to that “DESTROYER” “April 27, 1977 Litchfield Performance”. A video work that allows you to witness the scene has been decided to be released. This video was suddenly released in December 2020, and even at this moment, it is attracting attention from enthusiasts around the world. It is a video work that synchronizes the soundboard audio with the newly discovered 8mm film shot by the audience. First of all, the existence of the video itself is surprising, but at the same time, the quality is also amazing. Unlike videos that are easy to dub, the master quality looks beautiful and the colors are exactly as they were at the time. Best of all, there is hardly any damage to the film (perhaps it has been extensively repaired, but it doesn't look out of place at all), and the visual quality is unbelievable for a film made 43 years ago. Currently, 8mm discs of various 70's bands/artists have been unearthed, but it is extremely rare to find anything as vivid as this. In addition to the state of preservation of such materials, the editing that put them together is astonishing. As collectors who have had experience with 8mm films will know, 8mm film from the 1970s had a short shooting time. It's not unusual for a single cut to be a few seconds long, and it's best to have a cut of 10 seconds at most, and it's common practice to wait for the highlights to come from various parts of the show and then turn the film to aim at them. This film is no exception, with fragmented scenes connected at random, and the entire film is about 13 minutes long. Audio makes up for this shortcoming. As you know, the “DESTROYER” sound board is synchronized, and the missing parts are supplemented with audience recording. For example, the beginning of “The Song Remains The Same” is patched with the audience recording of “April 28th” the next day… It seems simple when explained calmly in words, but this is really amazing. After all, the video is in seconds. There are some distant shots, so it takes a huge amount of knowledge just to discern which song it is, and it's impossible to synchronize the audio unless you accurately understand the subtleties of the performance. The degree of synchronization in this video is intense. Even the cutting of the acoustic guitar that moves slightly in the distance is timed perfectly, and you can clearly see that it was edited with frightening analytical power and tenacity. The video version of "DESTROYER" was born from such miraculous materials and the tenacity of maniacs. That sound board that has become familiar to your ears and heart has a “sight” attached to it, and you can see four people moving in front of you...this is the real thrill. The overwhelming spectacle of history will leave you breathless. I would like to reiterate that this is a 13-minute video piece that is made up of fragmented footage. However, the content is definitely the “other side” of “DESTROYER”. This is a miraculous piece that allows you to be present at the scene that every enthusiast dreams of.
