ZEP's 1975 US tour has become a soundboard paradise in the 21st century. Especially for the second leg, it seems that in the future all performances will be heard on a soundboard recorded with PA out. However, the situation is different for the first leg of the same 75 US tour. Until the Philadelphia Spectrum on February 8th, no soundboards of that kind have been excavated. As is well known, this was the time when the tour was carried out in a wounded state, with Plant's voice trouble due to a cold and Page's finger injury combined. In particular, the waves of good and bad that Plant showed in January were intense, and the performance that we can enjoy on the soundboard from February 10th onwards is quite different from the stage. Even in such a wounded state, the condition of Plant and Page (the other two have been stable backing since the first day of the tour... as expected) has been clearly improving since "DETROIT 1975" released by our shop on January 31st. Interestingly, the LP items of this tour that were released in real time were concentrated on the shows from Detroit to the first week of February, and the Madison Square Garden on February 12th, which later became a standard among standards with high-quality audience recordings and the "FLYING CIRCUS" soundboard, was not released. The show at the same Madison Square Garden (hereinafter referred to as MSG) that will be released this time is also recorded, but it will be heard here on February 7th. On this tour, ZEP performed at MSG three times in February, but unlike in 1973 when the venue was the final performance, the event was held at the beginning of the tour, and it was special that it was held every few days. Among them, the sound source on the 12th is famous, and it is still fresh in our memory that we released "MADISON SQUARE GARDEN 1975 1ST NIGHT" on the 3rd. However, it was not the 3rd or 12th that was released in real time, but the show on the 7th, which was the middle day. The LP that recorded it is "TRAMPLED UNDERFOOT" which will be released on CD this time. For enthusiasts at that time, this board was one of the three musketeers of 75 America, along with the previous Detroit "DETROIT JUST ABOUT BACK" and the Montreal "1975 WORLD TOUR" the day before MSG. That being said, this LP was a rare LP compared to those two titles that are still easily found second-hand. The reason for this is very simple. While the previous two were both released by "major" bootleggers and recorded big sales, this was a one-off handmade release by an enthusiast who made a show he saw. In addition, while the previous two were both released in typical 70's bootleg packages with slick covers, this one was made with a solid cover that was printed directly on the cover, despite its simple design, which conveyed the enthusiasm of the producer. As expected, the audience recording recorded on the LP is a valuable sound source that can only be heard here. On the contrary, on the A side of the first disc, next to ZEP starting "Rock and Roll", Taper announced himself, "Now enjoy yourself, this is Led Zeppelin!" (laughs). For example, like the Stones' "ALL MEAT MUSIC" and Floyd's LA1975, it is natural for Taper to make an announcement as a recording check before the performance starts, but it is hilarious that Taper made the host's announcement at the same time as the performance started. This action also shows that he was fully prepared to release the sound source he recorded himself as an LP. Although the sound source opens with such a hilarious opening, the sound quality is surprisingly good. Other sound sources have now been unearthed, and in the past, "STRANGELY ENOUGH" and a Cobra record that used the package of this board but had a second source inside were made. However, the sound quality is clearly better than that. In addition, while the second source was harsh, though not as harsh as the recording on the 3rd, there was almost no chatter from the audience except between songs, making it much easier to listen to. Although the clarity and freshness are not that great, and it has the texture of an analog boot, the balance of the on-sound image, including Plant's voice that has begun to recover, is excellent. Furthermore, the fact that Jonesy's bass is captured widely is also wonderful. However, when "Trampled Underfoot", which became the title of the LP, faded out at the end, the pitch was raised to push "Dazed And Confused" onto the second disc, and the volume remained low at the part corresponding to the fourth side of the LP, which is a roughness that is typical of a handmade bootleg made by a maniac. For this release, we deliberately avoided supplementing it with another sound source, and instead focused only on making the rare LP into a CD in an easy-to-listen-to state. Therefore, the pitch rise and volume level that were noticeable on the second disc were firmly adjusted. Although it is basically a rough sound quality audience recording, and there are still some noises due to the poor quality of the records, which is typical of handmade LPs from the 1970s, it is still overwhelmingly easier to listen to than the original LP. This will allow you to feel the ease of listening to the large sound image even more. Because it is such a handmade boot, there must have been many enthusiasts who had never heard the sound source or performance of this LP until now. I myself, who am writing this, remember being very frustrated when I saw this LP being reserved at the back of the register of a certain union two years ago (the selling price was in the 2000s!). Not only is the sound quality surprisingly easy to listen to, but the performance is also interesting. Although it is a stage at the end of the first week of February, when the situation began to improve, the performance of ZEP heard here has an atmosphere of finally being at the starting point, and there is no improvisation or runaway like in the second leg. And yet, it is really refreshing to hear the neat performance now that they have regained their condition. Thanks to this sound image, you can clearly hear that Plant has been working hard since the opening, but as expected, when it comes to the encore "Heartbreaker", his voice seems to be struggling as he repeatedly says "good evening!", which is typical of this time period. Furthermore, in "Dazed And Confused", the development after the bowing section is not as out of control as the later 75 pattern, but is interesting in that it is centered around a simple riff. It is because of the neat performance on this day that the dynamism of the later "FLYING CIRCUS" was realized. However, Plant's voice will face the final challenge at Landover on the 10th. Not only is the sound quality surprisingly easy to listen to, but the content of the performance is also worth listening to. And since it is before the release of "PHYSICAL GRAFFITI", I was surprised at the reaction of the audience who did not get excited at all with the songs on the album (thanks to which it is easy to listen). This is an item that will make you cry with joy, allowing you to easily and stably play back the mega-rare 75th tour LP made by enthusiasts, which is rarely available on the market, on CD!
