Krw_co has released the original reels of Zep's BBC radio appearances, which formed the basis for the highly acclaimed "BBC SESSIONS 1969 PRE-FM REELS," not only from 1969 but also from 1971 broadcasts. These unedited recordings are a staple of the CD generation, having been released by various labels starting with the nostalgic "THANK YOU (It's Complete)." Not only do they feature intersongs omitted from the original broadcasts, but they also feature extreme stereo balance and no added echo, making them what might be called rough mixes. While the classic "BBC SESSION 1971" album covered this unmixed and unedited recording for broadcast, this reel is in even better condition, allowing you to experience the naturalness of the setup before the show begins. Some previously released items on other labels that were hailed as the best of the best were heavily compressed, but like the 1969 release, the naturalness of the Krw_co version stands out. While this rough mix had the major advantage of capturing the entire recording, a major drawback was the slight cut that occurred when it was leaked, where the "Whole Lotta Love" medley transitioned from "Mess Of Blues" to "Honey Bee." In fact, the cut was left unrepaired on the BBC SESSION 1971 recording. As with the 1969 version, under the supervision of a Zeppelin specialist, this section was meticulously filled in from the version broadcast in Japan in 1996. At first glance, it's hard to tell the difference. The complete recording is a given, and the overall pitch is also perfectly accurate. What stands out most is the crisp, easy-to-listen-to quality of the Krw_co reels. The original was a perfect stereo soundboard recording, so it was only natural that the sound quality would be excellent, but this recording is still exceptionally pleasant to listen to. The flashy mastering and recording quality required for commercialization over 1969 are a far cry from the official standards, yet it's a delight for beginners and enthusiasts alike. And, at the height of Zep's live performances in 1971, this unique radio recording is packed with highlights. While the energy is high, as expected in 1971, Robert and the rest of Zep are relaxed and approachable during the recording, as captured on the superb stereo soundboard recording, which is the charm of the 1971 BBC version. There's plenty of room for Robert to deliberately redo "What Is And What Should Never Be," a scene cut from the actual broadcast. Above all, because it was recorded in a studio, without the cheers and screams between songs, Bonzo's frequent comments to Robert can be heard in between performances, precisely because it was recorded before the broadcast editing. A new standard has been born for the soundboard, a staple of ZEP live performances, with countless releases. Enjoy the natural and stable sound to the very end with peace of mind. The familiar Crocodile sound source. While the BBC has been released countless times, this one is an extreme version of the stereo separation known for antlabatas and the like. While often referred to as Pre-FM, a rough mix might be easier to understand. This release features a wide sound range without compression. Perhaps due to its ingenious editing, there are still many parts between songs where the correct placement of the MC parts is unclear, making the BBC surprisingly mysterious. However, the cut "Mess Of Blues" from "Whole Lotta" has been supplemented with the 1996 remix (the version known for Cobra, etc.), and the performance parts are fully recorded.
