The night of the incident when Jimmy Page was forced to cancel due to food poisoning. Here is a rare video that allows you to witness the scene. The film includes the "April 9, 1977 Chicago performance". This film is a color 8mm film taken at the scene of the incident. 1977 was a time when a large amount of 8mm film was unearthed, so this is a good opportunity to start by taking a look at the history of the activities at that time and checking out the 1977 8mm collection. North America #1 * April 1st "DALLAS 1977 THE VIDEO" ・ April 3rd-7th (4 shows) * April 9th: Chicago performance ←★This work★ ・ April 10th-28th (10 shows) * April 30th "PONTIAC 1977 8mm" North America #2 ・ May 18th-June 3rd (10 shows) * June 7th-14th "MADISON SQUARE GARDEN 1977 8mm" ・ June 19th: San Diego performance * June 22nd-27th "L.A. FORUM 1977 8mm UPGRADE" North America #3 ・ July 17th-24th (4 shows) ... and so on. The North American tour can be roughly divided into three dates, and the Chicago performance was the first four consecutive nights (3rd-6th performances) of "North America #1". This film was shot at the concert, which was the third performance. This show is famous as the "interrupted stage" above all else. There was no problem at the start of the show, but Jimmy Page developed symptoms of food poisoning in the middle, and the show was interrupted at the sixth song, "Ten Years Gone." About an hour after the start of the concert, the concert was canceled as it was. The pattern has been known from various audience recordings, but this work allows you to witness the scene on video. Moreover, the valuable footage was unearthed in a collection that is currently a hot topic. It seems that excavating 8mm from the 1970s has become a standard method, but as the number of works increases, the quality, individuality, and origin of the material have become controversial. Among them, the "Speedy" "Jim Kelly" collection is hot. This person was a professional music photographer who passed away in 2021. He took photos at many concerts in the 1970s, but he also worked on video shooting with Super 8 on the side. After Jim's death, his 8mm collection was passed on to his friend Rob Gronfors, who has now made it available to the public after examining it and synchronizing the audio. Jim left behind footage of various bands and artists, but the most talked about one is LED ZEPPELIN. In addition to the above-mentioned "PONTIAC 1977 8mm," the gift title "MONTREAL 1975 8mm," which became popular recently, is also part of Jim's collection. This work, which came out of such a treasure collection, is also a hot topic for its 8mm quality. The first thing that shocks you is the intense close-up. If you pull back as far as you can, the heads of the people in front of you will be reflected at the bottom of the screen, so it seems to have been shot from the audience, but it zooms in steadily from there. Eventually, Plant's upper body fills the screen. Since it's to the left of the stage, Paige is a bit far away, but even so, his knees and above are so close that they stick out of the screen. Jim is a cameraman, so maybe he was in the seats for people involved, but even so, it's a series of super close-ups that make you wonder if the Super8 cameras of that time had such a zoom function. And the length of each cut is also noteworthy. 8mm has a short shooting time at a time, and it is destined to be a piece of footage. This work does not escape that fate, but each cut is still long and can be stared at carefully. With other 8mm, the songs change one after another while you think "What song was it?" from the phrase, but this work is at a level where you can fully enjoy each song (although it is not a complete performance). This work closes with Plant's MC announcing the cancellation of the show and apologizing to the audience. The "scenery" that could only be imagined from the audience recording has finally become clear. The quality and special show content of this work should be available to anyone at any time. A color 8mm film of the "Chicago performance on April 9, 1977", which was interrupted by Jimmy Page's food poisoning. This 8mm footage was excavated from the treasure-filled collection of "Speedy" Jim Kelly. It's not just valuable, but also has close-ups of Plant's upper body sticking out of the screen. This is a super masterpiece of a professional shot, with a powerful video that even lets you witness the MC announcing the cancellation.
