The long-awaited mirrored master recording of the final day of the ZEP 1977 LA Forum series has finally been unearthed, and the hit "L.A. FORUM 1977 FINAL NIGHT MIKE MILLARD MASTER TAPES: FLAT TRANSFER" has been listened to carefully during this Golden Week! At a time when many enthusiasts think that there are many enthusiasts, the JEMS team has released a shocking sound source from June 22nd. Speaking of June 22nd, it was sandwiched between the rare audience and historic performance of "Eddie" the day before and "Badge Holder" the next day, and it was basically a day that was not blessed with sound quality and recording conditions, and it is undeniable that it is a "mania-only day" in the 1977 LA Forum series. As if to tell the story, "L.A. FORUM 1977 2ND NIGHT 4 SOURCE MIX 2022 REMASTER" is a labor of love in which enthusiasts put together the best versions of each difficult sound source into one. The audience recording with the best sound quality was "recorder 1" (for convenience, we wrote "recorder 2" when "2022 REMASTER" was released, but this time we will return to the common theory and call it "recorder 1"). Although the sound image was close and it was overwhelmingly easy to listen to among the sound sources on the 22nd, it is true that it was still for enthusiasts. The sound quality of the master tape released by JEMS this time was remarkable, and at first, it was misunderstood as "Is it a new sound source on the 22nd?" However, it became clear that the master excavation of "recorder 1" was due to the recording state that recording started from the end of "Sick Again" and "Ten Years Gone" was not recorded. The person who carried out this recording was Barry Goldstein himself, who has recently been releasing masters from JEMS, shocking enthusiasts around the world. When the original file of "L.A. FORUM 1977 2ND NIGHT 4 SOURCE MIX 2022 REMASTER" was released, it was stated that the original sound source was Goldstein's recording, and if you are a enthusiast, this excavation may seem natural. However, the sound quality of this master has improved so much that it may be mistaken for a different sound source. It is true that last year's "badge holder" and the ongoing mirrored master excavation have all achieved truly wonderful upgrades, but this time it is no longer comparable. When "recorder 1", Goldstein's recording, was used in the first half of the live performance in "2022 REMASTER", it was certainly the easiest to listen to among the sound sources on the 22nd, but it was still only at the "VG-" level. This is due to the distortion of the sound that occurs here and there. However, the master excavated this time has eliminated the distortion at once, making it much easier to listen to. And above all, the freshness itself has been greatly improved. The familiar "dadgad" carefully remastered such a shocking Goldstein master. When he works on mirrored masters, the finish tends to be flashy for better or worse, and listeners tend to like it or not, but his sense and the Goldstein sound source are a perfect match. The finish made Goldstein's 22nd recording jump up from "VG-" to "EX" in one go. Until now, it was in a state that should be described as "easy to listen to among the 22nd sound sources," but this time, the quality has improved dramatically to the point where it can be unconditionally felt as "very good sound." Even if it does not reach the level of mirrored, the fact that an "EX" level sound source has finally been excavated from the 22nd sound source, where sound quality has always been a hurdle, is an impact that is comparable to last year's "Badge Holder" master excavation, and this time "dadgad's" skill was perfect. In fact, when you listen to it with this sound quality, you will be reminded that the performance was also a masterpiece comparable to "Eddie" and "Badge Holder". From the first half of the live, Bonzo was hitting the drums with high tension, but instead of the other members matching him like the previous day, Robert's rivalry was evident in "Nobody's Fault But Mine" and "Since I've Been Loving You". And yet he had the leeway to tease Jimmy with his MC. In "No Quarter", Jimmy was now rivaling Bonzo, and the 30-minute performance didn't feel long at all. In particular, the scene where the two of them rise together around the 20-minute mark symbolizes the greatness of the day. As the live progressed, Jimmy's good performance stood out even more, and his teasing before starting "Kashmir" was also amusing. In front of such an overwhelming improvement in sound quality, it's not even noticeable that there are unrecorded parts such as the opening. Above all, the fact that the LA Forum on the 22nd can be heard with such sound quality is too big... It's an upper feeling that makes sense when you hear it. This is one of the biggest shocks among the Goldstein masters that are being unearthed.
