Unfortunately, unlike 929 and Destroyer, there is no superior soundboard recording that captures the entire live performance, and while it is less well-known among general ZEP live fans, it is extremely popular among ZEP enthusiasts. Proud 1973 European tour. It was a golden age, when Paige and Bonzo played a central role, and the play was literally terrifying. At our store, we have released items from Munich, Hamburg, Offenbach, and recently appeared Lyon, but many enthusiasts have asked, "What about Vienna?" The performance in Vienna on March 16th was held in high esteem as one of the most outstanding performances even during a time when amazing performances were being produced in large numbers due to the aforementioned reasons. In addition to the outstanding performance, this day was also a live show where items have been produced since ancient times due to the existence of audience recordings with very good sound quality. At first glance, it seems like it's not a soundboard recording. The sound image is so amazingly on that you almost get the illusion that it is. Of course, it was of exceptional quality on the 1973 European tour, and it seems that the good sound quality was also a big factor in clearly conveying the tremendous performance of this day. During the 1973 European tour, a strange phenomenon occurred that many soundboard recordings recorded after “Dazed And Confused” remained. I can only think that this is the result of the intention to record the intense interplay between Page and Bonzo on this tour, but this tour, which has been highly rated among enthusiasts for a long time, It is true that it has become even better with the advent of soundboard recording. Fortunately, there is also a sound board recording of the Vienna performance where the recording button was pressed in the middle of “Dazed And ~”. Regarding audience recordings where there are multiple audiences, the sound quality of “source 1”, which is familiar from LP “WRENCH IN THE WORKS” etc., is too wonderful. Because such sound sources with excellent sound quality exist, many items composed of soundboard recording and "source 1" have been produced. However, surprisingly, all the hybrid titles that have been created to date have had some kind of shortcomings. By combining multiple sound sources, the parts that could not be recorded with just "source 1" and the sound board were compensated for, but the pitch was distorted due to the combination of multiple sound sources, and it was necessary to unify the sound quality. There were many problems due to the hybrid content, such as the equalization that was applied. Furthermore, there were even items that included editing in the soundboard recording part. In the end, the superiority of "source 1" and the soundboard in composing the entire live performance is undeniable. It may have come as a surprise that among these hybrid items, the one that was most highly rated by enthusiasts was not one that was produced in large numbers, but the ``WINSTON REMASTER,'' which is well-known on the internet. The secret lies in combining the two major sound sources while maintaining their natural texture. However, "WINSTON REMASTER", which was highly rated as the best version, also ignored the problem that the pitch differs depending on the sound source in the parts corresponding to the second disc, including the important "Dazed And Confused". There was a big drawback. Above all, a considerable amount of time has passed since the release of the ``WINSTON'' version (despite this, the reviews remained high), and with this release, we have thoroughly brushed up on this problem. The roughness of the joints that occurred in the example of "Dazed And~" was thoroughly adjusted by covering it with "source 2". If you are a fanatic who has been listening to the original "WINSTON" version, you will definitely be overwhelmed by the sense of stability in listening that has been reborn to a completely different level! Furthermore, in this release, the third and fourth discs include the full-length version of "source 2", which was used as a supplementary staff for "WINSTON REMASTER". This also boasts an amazingly on-sound image as an audience recording in 1973, but above all, the sound of Page's guitar was captured with a powerful balance. However, it is not so loud that the listening balance becomes saturated, and it is not as loud as the 1969 Boston Tea Party, for example. In terms of balance, it has always been excellent, and while you are overwhelmed by the power of Page's guitar, you can still enjoy ZEP's intense performance on this day.A very attractive separate recording has been released recently. Recorded from. Moreover, the high pitch, which had been neglected when it first appeared, was adjusted. After all, Page's guitar play is sharp on this day, so this exquisite recording balance also sounds very attractive. “Over The Hills And Far Away” in the first half of the live performance, and “The Song Remains The Same” are amazing. People who underestimate his guitar playing should definitely listen to this song. It is true that the playing touch has become rougher since 1975, but that is why the flash that Page showed on the 1973 European tour is special. It's lukewarm to say "it's popping" or "it's popping". “Knock it down” page is here! Of course, "source 2" also has some cut points, so other sound sources are used to supplement them. Among them, "Dazed And Confused" switches to soundboard recording the moment "San Francisco" starts, and in the latter half of the 17-minute range of "Whole Lotta Love" it compensates for even a momentary loss, there is no sense of discomfort at all. The adjustment is also worth listening to. Another key point of the day was Bonzo's drumming, which showed flashes just like Page. His play that was heard on this tour was a refreshing banging sound with a twist on his usual heavy groove. And yet, it's so exciting that it's nothing short of hilarious. Even in the slow "Since I've Been Loving You" and "I Can't Quit You" parts of "Whole Lotta Love," Aun's relationship with Page is intense, such as the parts that Page doesn't play. Anyway, it's wonderful. The moment they climbed to the top of this day, which is worthy of being called the climax, is “Dazed And Confused”. It was “Dazed And ~” of this tour, which was already mass-produced with great performances, but here is the performance that should be called the pinnacle. Bonzo's drumming is clear from the first half, and he and Paige show a surprising development, but the climax is when the bow playing ends. Once again, the battle between Paige and Bonzo, who defeat each other, is spectacular, and the scene from which the story returns to normal is thrilling. It is no exaggeration to say that it is a master craftsmanship, and the ultimate title of 73 Vienna, the ultimate masterpiece, where you can enjoy the best interplay with both soundboard recording and superb audience recording, is finally here.
