ACT, the label's flagship label, produces exceptionally high-quality European jazz, rivaling ECM. The band project "Liberet," headed by bassist/composer Lars Danielsson, presents the first album of this blissful live recording, featuring a diverse band of recording members from around the world performing exquisite music that showcases the very essence of European jazz. Now available for the first time on a premium soundboard recording! This rare live recording, recorded on the label's own meticulous mastering system and featuring the finest quality soundboard recordings, captures the essence of European jazz. This performance features the same four members who recorded "LIBERETTO": Lars, Tigran (no introduction necessary for Mothers News readers), Magnus Öström, drummer for Esbjörn Svensson Trio (EST), and John Parricelli, a renowned guitarist born in England and currently active mainly in the UK. The other member who appeared on the album, trumpeter Arve Henriksen, is absent. From the opening title track, you're captivated by the melancholic beauty of its Scandinavian-inspired melodies! The entire album is centered around Lars's melodic bass, while Tigran, the cornerstone of this project, unleashes mysterious and beautiful phrases inspired by Armenian music, engaging you with his masterful improvisational piano solos. While John's guitar playing is relatively conventional, he manages to stay understated among this diverse group of musicians, helping to solidify the overall sound of the band. Magnus' playing, a fellow student of Lars and ACT, supports the backbone of EST, and his unique and stunning performances more than prove that "EST, an essential part of 21st century jazz, would not have existed without Magnus's drumming." Lars Danielsson's Liberet is undeniably wonderful, combining individuality and artistry. It is no exaggeration to say that this is the most beautiful jazz in Europe today.
