The now-legendary 1977 KISS first performance in Japan was also broadcast on TV at the time, resulting in numerous video sources circulating. This set presents three different best-of masters. First, the nine-performance Japan tour was their first visit to Japan, with four performances at the Nippon Budokan, including both daytime and evening performances, making it an exceptional first live performance in Japan. Only a few tracks from the April 2nd daytime and evening performances were broadcast on TV. This compilation compiles three best-of masters from those broadcast sources. Disc 1 features the original broadcast version from the most familiar "Young Music Show," a 50-minute recording digitized directly from a video copy recorded domestically at the time. Disc 2 features the 16mm theatrical film, commonly known as "KISS LIVE IN JAPAN," a 48-minute recording mastered from the version distributed by the record company to Japanese cinemas at the time and distributed internationally for promotional purposes. Furthermore, disc 3 is the main feature of this title, the ultimate visually stunning American HBO on-air version, recorded over 50 minutes from the best quality master of the footage broadcast by a local New York cable TV station in 1979.
