The first in a series of compilations of rare KISS tracks, all in the best quality available. This includes what is believed to be the oldest live recording from before their major debut, including a rehearsal. In 1972, the band's predecessor, WICKED LESTER, formed by Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, and Peter Criss, hit a snag, so the band changed its concept and auditioned to find Ace Frehley as lead guitarist. The original KISS was born and began performing in their hometown of New York. In 1973, the year before the release of their debut album, they began the club circuit, mainly in New York. Disc 1 of this title contains a recording of a rehearsal in New York for the tour in May of that year, taken from a good audience tape for the time. Although the quality is not the best due to aging, the dress rehearsal is very vivid and, above all, extremely rare. Disc 2 features a complete soundboard recording of the gig held in Amityville, Coventry, New York on June 16th. Incidentally, only one song, "Acrobat," was included in the official box set from the recordings from that day, which were unearthed in recent years. However, the official date credits were incorrect, and the full-length master was leaked by a person involved, so the quality is good enough to be included in the official album. Since they were the opening act for FLAMING YOUTH at the time, the set list itself was short at 11 songs, but it featured many of their representative songs that were later included in the album and continued to be played thereafter. Since it was recorded right before the album, the arrangement is the same as the record version, but the performance itself is quite rough, with a dynamic "Deuce", a minimalist "Firehouse", Peter's drum solo featured on "100,000 Years" just like in their later live performances, and a rough "Black Diamond", but it still reproduces the charm of early KISS on stage. The quality is also a complete package of the atmosphere of the club gigs of that time, making this a must-listen item for fans, including the rehearsal recordings. Disc 1 : 01. Soundcheck 02.
