"CRAZY NIGHTS" is an ambitious work that incorporated new sounds and hit 18th place in the US, the highest ranking in the 1980s. A demo album that details the production site is now available. This work is engraved with two related studio recordings. This studio album mainly consists of demos (13 songs, 15 takes) created during the "CRAZY NIGHTS" production session, and adds demos (5 songs) by Paul Stanley that were produced for other projects. Speaking of the KISS collection, it is a series of shocking works through a unique route through related parties. It continues to shock KISS collectors all over the world. Although most of them are related to live performances, there are also many studio demos that are available only through related parties. We have introduced studio works that could be called "another version of a great album" throughout their career, such as the dawn of "COMPLETE WICKED LESTER SESSIONS 1971/1972", the golden age of "COMPLETE DESTROYER SESSIONS 1975-1976" and "ROCK AND ROLL OVER SESSIONS", the no-makeup era of "ANIMALIZE SESSIONS" and "REVENGE SESSIONS". This work is the "CRAZY NIGHTS" edition. Let's take a look at the contents right away. CRAZY NIGHTS demos (9 songs, 10 takes) Crazy, Crazy Nights / I'll Fight Hell To Hold You / Bang Bang You / Come Hell Or High Water / My Way (2 takes) / When Your Walls Come Down / Reason To Live / Good Girl Gone Bad / Turn On The Night As mentioned above, this album is mainly made up of studio demos from the CRAZY NIGHTS sessions, but they can also be broadly divided into album tracks and non-album tracks. The former are 9 songs other than "No, No, No" and "Thief in the Night" (only My Way has 2 takes), and are recorded in almost the same order as the album. Although they are called demos, there are various recordings such as memo recordings at the composition stage, practice to memorize songs, and recording parts to refine the arrangement, but this work is more like a rough mix. Although it is clearly different from the final album, the arrangements are solid and the dubbing of ornaments is perfect. It has a high level of musical completion and is the most delicious "fun to listen to alternative version". The only exception is "My Way (Vocal Track)". As the title suggests, this is an a cappella track sung by Paul without backing. However, his singing is quite serious, and echo and other effects are used. This also seems to be a real recording aimed at the finished product, not the stage of refining the song. Unreleased songs from the CRAZY NIGHTS session (4 songs, 5 takes) The fun of the demo is not only the different forms of the famous songs, but also the "phantom songs that may have been included". This work also includes songs that were part of the "CRAZY NIGHTS" session but were not included in the final album. Let's take a look at each song one by one. Dial 'L' for Love This number was basically composed by Eric Carr and finished by Gene Simmons/Adam Mitchell. An instrumental take is included in Eric Carr's compilation album "UNFINISHED BUSINESS" released in 2011, but this work includes vocals. Are You Always This Hot A song by Gene/Mitchell, originally written by Mitchell in 1981. It was a mysterious song that had not been offered to other artists for a long time, but it was officially released in 2017 on "GENE SIMMONS VAULT". Hide Your Heart (outtake) This song is included in the well-known "HOT IN THE SHADE", but it was originally a song for "CRAZY NIGHTS". A demo was also produced, but it was shelved due to producer Ron Nevison's reluctance, and the following year in 1988 it was offered to Bonby Taylor. After that, various versions were released, including Robin Beck, MOLLY HATCHET, Ace Frehley, and the original "HOT IN THE SHADE". The version included in this work is the original version. The true original version. Sword And Stone (2 takes) A hidden masterpiece by Paul/Bruce Kulick/Desmond Child. This song was also shelved because Ron Nevison didn't like it, but Bruce was quite disappointed. This song was also provided to Paul Dean and BONFIRE, and the latter was included in the soundtrack of the movie "Shocker". As you can imagine from the history, it is a wonderful work that is not just a rejected song, and on this album you can enjoy the KISS version with a well-crafted arrangement. Bonus: Paul's "Publishing Tape" (5 songs) The last song included is a demo that Paul had made for various projects. It was produced after "ASYLUM" (1986-1988), and it is sometimes considered to be part of the same project. In fact, there is no sense of incongruity when listening to the five songs on this album in succession with "CRAZY NIGHTS". The level of completion of the arrangement is very similar, and the participating musicians and composers are the same as the main "CRAZY NIGHTS" demo. Let's take a look at each song one by one. (I Am) The Best Man For YouA pop gem by Paul and Jean Beauvoir, who also collaborated on "Who Wants to Be Lonely" and "Uh! All Night" from "ASYLUM". Don't Let Go Some sources say this is an outtake from "CRAZY NIGHTS". This is a masterpiece by Paul and Vini Poncia, who will also be a key figure in the next album "HOT IN THE SHADE". Jump The Gun This song was included in "LUCKY THIS TIME" by Jeff Paris, who is famous for his collaboration with MR. BIG. Paul provides backing vocals. Time Traveler A number by the golden tag team "Paul/Desmond Child". Some sources say this is also an outtake from "CRAZY NIGHTS", and Bruce Kulick and Phil Ashley also participated. It was made official in "THE BOX SET" in 2001. Like "Crazy Crazy Nights" by When Two Hearts Collide, this is a number by Adam Mimichel and Paul. With T.M. Stevens on bass and Phil Ashley on keyboards, it's no wonder this hidden gem was included in "CRAZY NIGHTS". This is a collection of 18 songs, 20 takes, and 78 minutes and 29 seconds of treasures. The other version that can be enjoyed as "another CRAZY NIGHTS" is delicious, and the unreleased songs on one album (9 songs) are also too much fun. Each take is more complete than a mere demo and is full of listening pleasure, and the sound is of the highest quality because it is from the related route. This demo album details the production site of the studio work "CRAZY NIGHTS", which is truly worthy of being called semi-official. The highest peak master brought to us by our own related route, the many treasure takes with well-crafted arrangements are full of listening pleasure as a music album. In addition, Paul's "Publishing Tape", which was produced at the same time, is also included as a bonus with the highest peak master from the same route. This is a semi-official studio work that allows you to enjoy not only different versions of the nine songs included in the album, but also one album's worth of unreleased songs (9 songs).
