Kenny Garrett Quartet Pat Metheny/NY,USA 1996 Second Show

Kenny Garrett played on Miles Davis's late album "Amandola" and accompanied him on subsequent tours. After embarking on his solo career in 1992, he signed with Warner Bros. and released eight albums with the label, beginning with "Black Hope." This nearly complete recording of a June 28, 1996, show at New York's Knitting Factory, delivered via excellent audience master recording, spans 1 hour and 38 minutes. Of particular note is the live performance featuring Pat Metheny in a quartet arrangement. The set kicks off with Evans' famous "What Is This Thing Called Love," and Metheny is introduced midway through the second track, "Computer "G," and plays throughout the set. This is a rare opportunity for Metheny to share the stage with Garrett. The set also featured Coltrane's songs, including "Giant Steps," as they had released "Pursuit/Tribute to Coltrane" that year, and the encore "Sing a Song of Song" got the audience involved in a huge sing-along. Plus, the drummer was the virtuoso Brian Blade, so there were plenty of highlights to listen to.
