This high-definition DVD offers a close-up look at a special studio live performance recorded for television broadcast in Germany on June 14, 1974. Keith plays not only piano, but also flute, percussion, and even soprano saxophone. The live performance is somewhat like a "suite," and is very earthy. The three-piece ensemble is truly superb, and with each song, it feels like the performance is becoming more and more "sublimated." At this time, Jarrett was also experimenting with instruments other than piano (he played saxophone on 1972's "Expectations" and in the "American Quartet," which continued until 1976), so those expecting the world of the standard trio from the 1980s onward may be disappointed.
