Keith Emerson and Greg Lake, who both passed away in 2016, have reissued a live album from the collaborative project in which they spent their later years. The collaborative project was "KEITH EMERSON & GREG LAKE". It was not a band centered around the two of them, but a duo unit with a world of just the two of them. This work is a valuable audience album that allows you to witness the scene. First, let's look back on 2010, the year in which this unit was active. ・April 5th - May 15th, 2010: North America (23 performances) ・July 25th, 2010: HIGH VOLTAGE (EL&P) ・October 4th - 7th, 2010: Japan (3 performances) *Cancelled ・November 14th - December 7th, 2010: Europe (14 performances) *Cancelled This is their journey in 2010. After 23 shows in North America, the tour was scheduled to continue from Japan to Europe, with a one-night EL&P reunion in between. However, before the Japan show, Keith was found to have a colon polyp and underwent urgent surgery. In the end, all subsequent plans were canceled, and the two never shared the stage again. Although "KEITH EMERSON & GREG LAKE" also left behind the official live album "LIVE FROM MANTICORE HALL", it was the 19th show at the end of the schedule. In contrast, this work is a four-disc set with the opening "April 10, 2010 New Bedford (4th show)" on discs 1 and 2, and the next day "April 11, 2010 Lin (5th show)" on discs 3 and 4. The quality is truly superb. In particular, the Lin show on discs 3 and 4 has a clear atmosphere with mid- and high-pitched sounds that sparkle, and the deep bass makes the walls of the venue shake. The two of them perform together with equal or greater vividness than the official album "LIVE FROM MANTICORE HALL". Of course, the New Bedford performance on discs 1 and 2 is also wonderful since they are coupled in this way. Although it is different from the brilliance of the Lin performance, the extremely thick musical tones gently wrap around the whole body, and the details of the performance and singing seem to pour down. On top of that, the intimacy of a warm theater drifts, and it is a sound that makes you feel as if the two are breathing and playing in front of you. And it is that breathing that touches your heart. Because it is a duo form without Carl Palmer, the masterpieces are colored in a way that you have never heard before, and there is a lot of intimacy. "From The Beginning" with piano and acoustic guitar, "Talk To The Wind" with a deep synth and piano taste, "Take A Pebble" which reproduces the intro only by playing the keyboard without using piano strings... The highlight of them all is "Tarkus". The opening riff is powerful, and the solo piano in the "Eruption" part is wonderful, like free-form jazz. The spontaneous performance, taking advantage of the advantages of only piano and bass, is natural. You can enjoy the performance that can only be heard in duo style. There are also plenty of scenes that you can't hear on the official version, which was a single disc. In the second half of the show, "Prelude To A Hope" from Keith's solo album is performed, and "America/Rondo" is also played after the introduction "from the THE NICE era". The audience is excited during the Bach performance part, and it may be that he is showing off his familiar back playing. Furthermore, the MC is full of intimacy. Unlike EL&P, which unfolds spectacles in rapid succession, Keith and Greg look back on the past in a long MC and show off a number of fun episodes. There is even a Q&A time with the audience. In particular, on "April 11th (Disc 4)", they play the riff of "The Evil Scripture First Impression" in response to a request from a female fan. The audience was overjoyed. To be honest, Keith's ring finger and little finger on his right hand are no longer working well, and he can't play the fast passages with three fingers. There are also some scenes where the piano solo and rhythm are unstable. But now I love even that. I wish they could have shown this performance in Japan. Just one more time to see the two of them lined up in the warm air. Six years since this show. That wish will never come true. It's a shame to put it into words, but what comes to my heart is not regret, but sadness. This live album calms those feelings and lets me meet Keith and Greg again. For those of us who couldn't have "KEITH EMERSON & GREG LAKE", this live album is too dazzling. Live at Lynn Memorial Auditorium, Lynn, MA.
