In recent years, live recordings of Joni Mitchell have been discovered, including the 1983 performance in Japan "TOKYO 1983 1ST NIGHT", "BUDOKAN 1983", and backing by Jaco Pastorius and Pat Metheny. There was a feeling that the focus was on sound sources from the early 1980s, such as the superb recording "GREEK THEATER 1979: MIKE MILLARD FIRST GENERATION TAPES" by Mike Millard, who played the role. Those are certainly wonderful, but I think it's natural for enthusiasts to ask if we could also unearth Joni's stages from a more vintage period. In order to respond to such voices, the 1976 Nassau Coliseum will be released this time. It was part of a tour in support of the album ``Summer Grass Invitation'', and the band was formed mainly of jazz musicians led by guitarist Robben Ford, who had also participated in the 1974 tour. It was accompanied by In the fall of that year, Joni further accelerated his jazz career after meeting Jacopus, but his 1976 tour still retained his traditional folk-oriented sound, and could be called a transitional stage in the best sense of the word. . This sound source captures the tour at such a precious time, but this is the ideal vintage audience. Although it is a monaural recording, the performance is captured with a very clear sound image and is very easy to listen to. What's more, the pitch was carefully adjusted before it was released online, making it even easier to listen to. In fact, no changes were necessary for this release. Also, because of Joni's nature as an artist, even in the Nassau Coliseum arena, when he performs quietly, it's easy to hear that the people around him quiet down. What's most appealing is the band's sound, which has a jazz flavor unique to this period, yet still respects the traditional musicality of Joni. I like the modest backing by the members who mainly worked with Ford. What is even more interesting is their aggressive attitude, which has already included new songs that will be included in their next work, ``Escape'', and even new songs that will be included in their next work, ``Don Juan's Shrew Girl''. Just looking at the set list shows that Joni's creative ambition at the time was at its peak. Therefore, even before the release of "Coyote", which would later become one of her classics, the audience's reaction was rather refreshing. And while introducing a jazz-oriented sound, the two songs before the encore, starting with "Raised On Robbery", suddenly become a rock-oriented sound, which is also typical of this tour. Originally, the first performance in Japan was supposed to have happened two months later, but it didn't happen because Joni suffered from acute pneumonia (perhaps because they toured America during the cold season). Therefore, it is also a valuable sound source that makes you dream of the performance in Japan that ended in illusion. A live recording of Joni from the mid-1970s that has appeared for the first time in a while. Please enjoy to your heart's content the stage full of charm unique to this period with a very good vintage audience! Although it received poor reviews at the time of its release, it is now popular among fans as a masterpiece. It was released on February 20th, at the end of the 1976 North American tour, immediately after the release of 1975's ``The Hissing of Summer Lawns''. Uniondale, New York recorded the Nassau Coliseum performance in high quality AUD sound source. An enthusiastic Joni Mitchell performed 6 songs from her album ``Summer Grass Invitation'', 2 songs from her next album ``Escape'', and 2 songs from her next album ``Don Juan's Shrew''. A popular tour for fans of! The band's performance is great with the new LA Express featuring Robben Ford as the backing! This tour is a must-listen for fans, as the previous day's Boston performance was only released over 10 years ago.
