Joni Mitchell/Belgium 1983

From the Euro tour after the release of "Wild Things Run Fast" in 1983, the performance in Brussels, Belgium on April 26th was recorded almost uncut with high quality soundboard sound source from the master source for local broadcast. Since it uses a master that was re-aired in recent years, the quality is several ranks higher than the already distributed recordings, and the set list that starts with the opening "Free Man In Paris" and ends with "Woodstock" is reminiscent of the performance in Japan held the previous month. The members are the same as those who came to Japan, and they are Larry Klein, who was Joni's husband at the time, on bass, Russell Ferrante of the Yellow Jackets on keyboards, Mike Landeau on guitar, and Vinnie Colaiuta on drums, and they performed the tightest and most rock-like performance in her long career. Landeau's guitar sound in particular is full of rock flavor, but the set has changed slightly from the previous month and the performance in Japan, and they performed a variety of songs from early folky numbers to a strong fusion sound. This album also seems to have been inspired by the official live video "Refuge Of The Roads," which was said to have been filmed around this time, and while Landau and Vinnie Colaiuta continue to back up the band with their tight rock sound, they also add jazzy elements at key points.
