This 50-minute recording of Chicago's Little Giant Johnny Griffin's show at the Teatro Romano in Verona, Italy on June 26th from his 1988 European tour was recorded on a stereo soundboard from the local FM on-air master. The first is Johnny's one-tenor performance, backed by Harold Danko, Chet Baker's exclusive pianist in his later years, Ray Drummond, a bassist who has participated as a sideman in many recordings, and Tony Reedus, a young drummer from New York. The performance mainly consists of standard numbers such as "Just Friends," "If I Should Lose You," and "Lover Man," but also includes "Take My Hand," recorded in the same year. This is a must-listen item for fans who are in their prime but will enjoy the fast-paced blow. 1. Introduction (00:36) 2. Just Friends (10:35) 3. If I Should Lose You (13:54) 4. Lover Man (15:13) 5. Take My Hand (09:41) [Live at Teatro Romano, Verona, Italy, June 26th 1988 : stereo soundboard recording] Johnny Griffin - tenor saxophone / Harold "Hal" Danko - piano / Ray Drummond - bass / Tony Redus – drums
