This full recording of the late show at Bottom Line in New York on July 3rd, from the 1991 North American tour by the trio, has been digitally remastered and recorded for 1 hour and 22 minutes on the audience master released by taper in recent years. First of all, there are only a few live recordings of this trio, from the following year in 1992, and this was after the release of the album "Que Alegria". The members are Dominic Di Piazza on bass and Trilok Gurz on percussion, who is from Bombay, India and has often performed with ECM musicians. The performance, performed with the same lineup as the album, overwhelmed the audience with a variety of patterns, from delicate playing featuring acoustic guitar to transcendent playing using MIDI guitar synths, from acoustic to electric. And the complex and exotic percussion of Indian Trilok Gurz, who will become an indispensable presence for McLaughlin later on, and the precise bass of Piazza that supports it match perfectly, and the balance between Dominic's bass and John's acoustic guitar, which seem to respond to Trilok's percussion, is exquisite.
