John Lennon, Yoko Ono, Frank Zappa and the Mothers / NY, USA 1971 Collector's Edition

This historic live performance, featuring John and Yoko as guests during the encore of Frank Zappa and the Mothers' June 6, 1971, concert at New York's Fillmore East, marks the first time John Lennon and Frank Zappa have performed together. Originally released as a "live jam" on the 1972 album "Sometime in New York City" credited to John Lennon & Yoko Ono/Plastic Ono Band, it featured a slightly shortened version edited by John. Although both parties had agreed on distribution rights at the time, a slightly shortened version was released in 1992, with a different mix. The 2022 mix was later released as the longest version in a box set. This latest edit features a unique mix from the master that originally produced the longest version. The "Complete Show: New Remaster 2025" version is included on the CD. This uncut, longest-running compilation offers a raw, raw sound closer to the original, delivering exceptionally realistic vocals and instruments. The second half of the CD features a "Yoko-less" version of the live jam from the album "Sometime in New York City," omitting only Yoko's vocals and vocal croaking. In addition to the 1971 Fillmore East performance, it also includes two tracks from the 1969 London Lyceum. This super session features an all-star lineup, including Clapton, George Harrison, Delaney & Bonnie, Billy Preston, Nicky Hopkins, and Keith Moon, showcasing John's authentic, passionate performance. While both the Fillmore East and Lyceum performances are historic, even those who have avoided Yoko's performances due to her vocal inconspicuousness can enjoy this "Yoko-less" mix for a truly authentic experience. The DVD includes the only remaining live footage from the Fillmore East performance. Previously, the film footage, which had poor image quality, has been improved through AI restoration. The original, distracting time code has been masked, and the audio has been replaced with newly remastered audio. The audio-only DVD section also includes the 1992 Zappa mix and the newly remastered 2025 version in stereo and Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound. This allows you to compare the differences between the mixes.
