The official video of the almost only full solo performance "ONE TO ONE" has been reprinted with the highest quality ever. This concert was held as part of the "ONE TO ONE Movement" aimed at supporting facilities for disabled children. For John, who did not do a full-scale solo tour, it was the only full concert since the Beatles' live activities stopped in 1966. The footage has been released as an official live album and two types of videos, "LIVE IN NEW YORK CITY" and "THE ONE TO ONE CONCERT", and has been popular for many years. However, although the live album was released on CD, the video has long since been out of print. There is no prospect of it being released on DVD to this day. For that reason, many underground reprint DVDs have been made, but this work is the highest quality version. It is a two-disc set with "LIVE IN NEW YORK CITY" released in 1985 on disc 1 and "THE ONE TO ONE CONCERT" released in 1992 on disc 2. This work is different from many existing groups from the original source. The source is "Japanese Laser Disc". Laser Disc is superior to VHS and Beta in terms of scanning line standard, but Japanese version is recognized as "the pinnacle" by collectors all over the world. Japan, which has been sensitive to the latest media since that time, is a leading country of laser disc, and countless video works have been released. The lineup and quality are overwhelming other countries. Furthermore, laser discs have exceptional preservation. VHS / Beta, which is a magnetic tape, inevitably deteriorates rapidly over time, but laser discs, due to their structure, deterioration is kept to a minimum. Up to now, various video records have been made into DVDs, but in some cases the original master has deteriorated, and it is not uncommon for commercially available laser discs to be of higher quality. Although this "Japanese Laser Disc" is such a "Japanese Laser Disc", this work uses a mint condition superb board owned by a core collector. Usually, it is digitized by an overseas affiliated specialized manufacturer, but this work is a little different. This maniac is also a collector of playback machines, and has digitized the recordings using his own high-end equipment in a way that is exactly the same as professional-grade equipment. The quality is extraordinary. Of course, it was recorded in 1972, but the vivid colors and the screen that is completely free of noise and distortion show the beauty of the images that the original master would have had. Of course, the sound is also superb. It was a topic of conversation at the time that the mix was different from the live album, but the sound is clearly better in this work. The rich sound, which is completely different from the thin sound of today's CDs, and the listening response of the firm bass are incomparable. This work boasts such top-of-the-line quality, but there is another advantage to the "Japanese Laser Disc". That is the Japanese subtitles placed in various places. Particularly wonderful is "LIVE IN NEW YORK CITY" on disc 1. The MCs that John and Yoko talk about between songs are subtitled. This is the best. Yoko says, "It's time for us to change, guys. We only have one year. Wake up!" and John immediately replies, "Reggae." The timing is cool, and you can also vividly understand jokes like, "Ringo? That's an old friend," and "It's a song from the album after I left the Stones." The last song, "Give Peace A Chance," is particularly strong. Yoko, wearing a helmet with "People's Revolution" written on it, begins, "I'll read a statement here," and begins to recite a speech by a famous politician. Let me write it out briefly. "Our country is in chaos, our cities are full of rebellious students, and we are in a state of turmoil. The communists are plotting the downfall of our country. Russia is threatening us with its power. Liberalism is in crisis. It is truly dangerous. We need law and order, both at home and abroad. Without it, our country cannot survive. "Our country is in chaos in the streets, and students are revolting at universities" Adolf Hitler (1932) I've spoiled the whole story, but this is the real thing because it is a "scene" told to the beat. The expressions of the audience watching the stage and shouting something, combined with John's excited appearance, give it a sense of the era. And Hitler's speech leads directly into the lyrics "What we want to say is... peace for us. Peace for us!"... It's great to be able to hear Yoko's "Sisters, O Sisters" and "Born In A Prison", which you can't hear on the live album, but the message also enters into the Noh without any time lag with the images. Such a scene is depicted with the greatest beauty in history. On the other hand, disc 2 is "THE ONE TO ONE CONCERT" which came out in 1992. This is a digest of six songs, but instead, it includes Stevie Wonder's "Superstition," Roberta Flack's "Reverend Lee" and "Somewhere," who appeared on the same day. This also uses a "Japanese laser disc," and the quality is the highest. It also has Japanese subtitles, so you can easily understand the scene where Roberta Flack's narration gradually turns into a song. However, John & Yoko are edited mainly for performance, and there is almost no MC. Instead, the key point is the sound, and the mix is clearly different from "LIVE IN NEW YORK CITY." Yoko's vocals in particular are quite processed, and it can be seen that the work is more elaborate than the raw "LIVE IN NEW YORK CITY." The 36th "December 8th" since John's death is coming soon. I hope you will spend this December with this work, where you can witness his only solo concert "ONE TO ONE" in the highest quality ever. Live at Madison Square Garden, New York, NY.
