The Beatles' "RUBBER SOUL (CENTERED VOCALS REMIX)" was a unique remix version made by fans, but the effect was clearly noticeable, and it received much better reviews than expected. In response to this, we will release a new fan mix this time. The target is John Lennon's masterpiece album "IMAGINE". No one will disagree that the album's title song is now a standard among standards. The person who attempted a new mix of this album is a maniac who calls himself Lord Reith. He is a famous person in the Internet world, and he is good at disassembling the Beatles' sound sources and finishing them into versions at the recording stage. His masterpiece is "MINUS ONE", and not only have items based on this been released by other labels, but the recording stage mix made for "MINUS ONE" was also featured extensively in our release "COMPLETE RECORDING SESSIONS VOLUME 4". A few months after the release of "MINUS ONE," he made "MINUS JOHN," based on John's "IMAGINE." The mix he did here is very easy to understand. This album was produced by Phil Spector, and gorgeous strings were added here and there. There were some parts where this turned out to be a good thing, but it is also true that some parts now feel dated. One of the biggest contradictions of the great artist John Lennon is that, although he publicly declared that he liked "simple and straight sounds," most of his songs after this album continued to be decorated with either strings or horn sections. In his case, it was not one pattern, but two patterns, and he added one of them to most of his songs. After the Beatles broke up, Paul received a lot of criticism for the finished songs and production because he lost his partner John, but in fact, John's ability to produce songs and albums was not necessarily stale, even if it was not a wide range, because he lost Paul. In the end, John himself was proud of the finish of the stripped-down simplicity of "John's Soul" for the rest of his life, and admitted that there were parts of the other albums that he regretted, more or less. The release that officially acknowledged this was the stripped-down version of "DOUBLE FANTASY". This is a solid finish that features the core band sound and John's singing voice, without any unnecessary decoration. Furthermore, the greatness of each session take included in the "JOHN LENNON ANTHOLOGY" box set also proved this. The mix of "MINUS JOHN" was also aimed at the concept of eliminating the decoration centered on strings and enhancing the appeal of the song itself. It was a stripped-down version of "IMAGINE". That's why the title of this press CD release was named like that. The difference in the mix you actually hear here is very easy to understand. It is mainly the string parts that are fully open with Phil Spector's production sense. This is obvious when you listen to "Imagine" and "Jealous Guy". In addition, the album itself is based on the Millennium version, so the clarity and simplicity are outstanding. "RUBBER SOUL (CENTERED VOCALS REMIX)" was only noticeable when listening with headphones, but this time, the difference is really easy to understand even when playing it through speakers. When the moody feeling of the strings is gone, John's uniqueness really stands out. Furthermore, the finish of "Crippled Inside" without the dobro guitar part and "Oh Yoko!" without even the piano part played by Nicky Hopkins is also wonderful. The mix of "MINUS JOHN" was done to highlight the simplicity rather than collaging the tracks with a unique interpretation, as is common in fan mixes. That's why it's attractive that you can listen to it smoothly without any discomfort. Please enjoy the masterpiece "IMAGINE" that has been reborn in a simple state with an unexpectedly addictive finish this time! (38:32) 01. Imagine (No Strings Mix) 02.
