The best new live album is here! Joe Lynn Turner's recent activities have not been well known, but he actually put on a surprisingly good show...This is a masterpiece full of unknown "current JLT". First of all, let me briefly explain the current situation. Joe currently performs live relatively constantly. The locations are mainly America and Europe, where RAINBOW is popular, and go back and forth between Europe and North America every month. At most, he appears on stage about five or six times a month. Although it is not a full-fledged tour activity, considering his age of 65, it is not a bad pace. Under such circumstances, this work is an audience album recorded at “Dallas performance on August 21, 2016”. The biggest flavor of this work is the exquisite sound. The "Curtain Club" where the event took place is a small venue with a capacity of about 500 people, but that's why it feels so up close and personal. All the instruments are so close together that you can almost see them playing right in front of you. The vocals are especially amazing, and even the slight effects are clear, and the wonderful singing voice is poured in with a direct feeling that is no different from a sound board connected directly to a desk. The other day, I introduced the 2010 stereo sound board “SAO PAULO 2010 SOUNDBOARD”, which is as good as that direct connection sound and even has the naturalness unique to the audience. Although applause occurs between songs, the audience listens quietly during the performance, so it is a live album that you would want to call an “official audience.” Now, onto the main topic. The latest live performance drawn with such an intense sound is surprisingly cool and it is a wonderful show that makes you go “Oh!”. The basic idea is “RAINBOW Paradise”, which has become commonplace in recent years. "SAO PAULO 2010 SOUNDBOARD" also had plenty of RAINBOW, but this work is even more thorough. Completely eliminating solo songs, they also played "Power" and "Stone Cold." Above all, the opening song is “Over The Rainbow”, which brings out “RAINBOW singer: Joe Lynn Turner” to the fullest. However, not all the songs are RAINBOW, and he performs DEEP PURPLE's "Highway Star" and "Burn" (please make it "SLAVES AND MASTERS"...), and also sings "Rising Force" from the Yngwie Malmsteen era. It's a show that's just "as usual," but what's so good about it? First, the back band. In recent years, Joe has not had a fixed band, and often uses local musicians from the performance area. As a result, depending on the venue, the performance may be a bit shaky or have an amateurish feel, like a copy band, but this work is truly based in the United States. Although they cannot be called famous, they have a career group that has survived firmly in the rock scene. The guitar player is Steve Brown from TRIXTER (nostalgic!), and the drum player is Matt Starr, who came to Japan as a member of MR. BIG. Bassist Sean McNabb has the richest career history, and if you list the bands he was part of, he's QUIET RIOT, HOUSE OF LORDS, GREAT WHITE, ROUGH CUTT, XYZ, DOKKEN, BURNING RAIN...it's like a living dictionary of LA metal. is. As such a career group, the professional yet reliable performance is wonderful. They don't just "reproduce it skillfully," but while respecting the original, they add their own arrangements and phrases here and there, and above all else, they rock passionately. Steve Brown on guitar is especially great. Whether it's ``Death Alley Driver,'' ``I Surrender,'' or ``Spotlight Kid,'' he faithfully reproduces his signature phrases while also adding his own style. It's also very melodious and catchy, and it fits perfectly into the song (on the other hand, it may not be suitable for those who are looking for a precise reproduction of the original). A tough and tight rhythm section is also good, and I think it would be better if they didn't hire local musicians and openly stated, ``This is the current JLT band!''... And, most importantly, Joe's voice is also wonderful. The thinness of her lines has disappeared, but her bold, robust singing voice is as reliable as that of a rock singer. However, the density of the growing voice remains smooth and does not become hoarse or crack as the show progresses. In the 1980s, no matter how much people said, ``Joe reminds me of Paul Rodgers,'' it didn't resonate with me, but now I can understand it. Even though he is already 65 years old, his vocals are amazing. I feel like a set without solo songs is a bit disappointing, but there's no way it would be boring with RAINBOW all over it. Although it's different from the shining singing voice of the 80's, there's no way that her rock voice, which has become more robust, is not cool. On top of that, the veteran career group even sprinkled in melodious phrases that weren't even in the original. This is a book that has "good sound, good songs, and good performances" all in one place. Live at Curtain Club, Dallas, TX. USA 21st August 2016 TRULY PERFECT SOUND Disc 1(45:27) 1.
