From the 2014 Japan tour, the final performance at Tokyo Dome City Hall on April 9th and the Yokohama performance on the 14th were completely recorded with a completely different, ultra-high quality audience recording that surpasses all previous performances. The recorder was Taper, who appeared in the Beck & Clapton "LIVE TOGETHER" and greatly surprised fans with his special recording. Discs 1 & 2 contain the final day in Tokyo, which also includes official filming. This day was also released on the already sold-out "TOKYO DOME CITY HALL 2014" (6CD) and "TDCH 2014 SECOND & THIRD NIGHT" (4CD), so you might be wondering "Why release this performance now?", but if you listen to this sound, you will understand in one shot. This is the third day of TDCH, and the miracle recording that truly shows the face of the "LIVE TOGETHER" taper. The recording location is slightly to the left of the center of the front row. Since this is a "front row recording" of the Tokyo performance of this taper, it is guaranteed to be exceptional in every sense. The sound of the guitar is amazing, but the sound of the bass is overwhelming. This quality, scale, and direct feeling were not experienced in other recordings on the same day, and it is definitely the strongest content that stands out. "TOKYO DOME CITY HALL 2014" (6CD) by another taper was also recorded in the front row on the first day, April 7th, and the recording was amazing, but this take is on the third day and has the same level of quality. I thought I knew well from my past experience that it is not possible to make a good recording just because it is in the front row, but with regards to Beck's TDCH performance, I can say with confidence that these two front row recordings are really amazing. The performance on the last day of Tokyo that can be heard with this sound is amazing! It was a day of sharp performances with an edge overall, and the high tension continues from the beginning, especially since it was filmed. In You Know You Know, Rhonda's superb six-tap burst explodes, and in Angel (Footsteps), Beck's slide is superb. In Stratus, Beck unleashes a variety of phrasing, and the ending drums are recorded with a tremendous sound, which once again impresses me. In Yemin, Jeff makes two consecutive mistakes in the last theme return, but he still plays hard. Where Were You has excellent phrases with harmonics and other intonations. You Never Know also has an excellent final solo by Jeff. In the opening intro of Led Boots, Jeff flies, which is painful because it was filmed. In Big Block, the contrast between the heavy rhythm with emphasis on the back and Jeff rushing forward is interesting, and the last Why Give It Away has a cool programmed rhythm, and the combination of the beat points placed a little further back (especially the bass drum insertion) is quite funky and coolly recorded. Discs 3 & 4 contain the Yokohama performance on April 14th. This was recorded by the same recorder from the center of the 18th row. Compared to the front row recording on the 3rd day of TDCH, the sound feels distant, perhaps due to the characteristics of the venue, but if you listen to this alone, the sound quality is more than enough. The previous release of "YOKOHAMA 2014" on this day was recorded with outstanding high sound quality that is much tighter than that. It is recorded with excellent sound that exceeds the previous release in all respects, such as stability, scale, and directness of the sound. Even those who have not been satisfied with the Yokohama performance sound source so far will surely be satisfied with this take. Because this venue has a structure with a distance even in the front row, all the recordings have a sense of space, and this take also has a slight sense of distance, but still, the Yokohama performance sound source with such excellent recording is recorded with the highest quality sound that I have never heard before. Compared to all the previously released boards, the sound is closer and there is a sense of separation, so this is a piece that can be recommended to fans of any level. I can say with confidence that this is the definitive version of the 2014 Yokohama performance, which came late. On this day, the performance was more careful than intense overall. However, it's not that the performance was bad, but the performance of Where Were You, which shines with Beck's delicate and lustrous craftsmanship such as arming and harmonics, is the best! Jeff plays it beautifully using hammering and harmonics. Beck explodes in Brush With The Blues, playing the whole song. It's unfortunate that there is a mistake at the end of Danny Boy, but this is also the best part of the live performance. At the last performance, Cause We've Ended As Lovers, there is an accident where Beck's string breaks, but he replaces his guitar and starts playing as if nothing happened, and you can hear the audience getting excited at that part. Both performances are undoubtedly the best takes of the day. It was recorded by the same person, and the sound is unified, making it a great set.
