Kinney's original master is here for the first time. This weekend, the whole world will get to know this "secret sound" for the first time. The main character is Jeff Beck, who came to Japan in 1989 with "GUITAR SHOP". This visit to Japan was to participate in the music event "KIRIN "BEER'S NEW GIGS" '89", and it was also the kickoff date for the tour accompanying "GUITAR SHOP". First, let's check the dates of his visit to Japan. August 5th: Ariake Coliseum August 6th: Ariake Coliseum (cancelled due to typhoon) August 7th: Aichi Prefectural Gymnasium August 9th: Osaka-jo Hall August 10th: Osaka-jo Hall August 11th: Yokohama Arena [Disc 1 of this work] August 12th: Yokohama Arena [Disc 2 of this work] A total of 6 performances. Originally, 7 performances were scheduled, but the "August 6th performance" was canceled due to the landfall of Typhoon No. 13. This work is a two-disc set with the final Yokohama Arena performance "August 11th" on disc 1 and "August 12th" on disc 2. The biggest point of this work is Kinney's magic sound. To be honest, the 1989 Japan tour was not blessed with very good recordings throughout the entire performance, but this work is in a class of its own. The realistic enthusiasm that rises at the start of the performance and between songs is definitely an audience recording, but as soon as the ferocious performance begins, the audience is overwhelmed. The sound world spreads out like a line recording with a sharp edge and super clear details that fill everything. However, although discs 1 and 2 are at the same venue, they are different performances in different positions. Each has its own personality, so let's introduce them in detail. [Disc 1: August 11th] Disc 1, which contains the first day of the Yokohama Arena 2DAYS, is a super-realistic album that touches the heart. After all, from the recording position, it is the center seat in the front row of the arena. This is a powerful and powerful live album with extremely close musical sounds. Normally, if you are in the center of the front row, it is not surprising that the sound from the left and right PAs will wrap around and the sound will have poor resolution. However, there are no such weak points, and the stereo balance and the taste of the straight ball sound are packed in abundance. It is a famous recording that truly shows Kinney Magic's face. In addition to such musical sounds, another thing that depicts the front feeling is the enthusiasm of the audience. Since I am a Japanese who loves Jeff Beck, I will not do anything uncool to disturb the performance, but the voices of joy that spontaneously rise up between songs are wonderful. In Japanese, "It's right in front, right in front!" "It's already exhausted..." etc., it is a fierce sense of realism that excitement and joy are transferred just by listening. The show drawn with such a sound is also amazing. Jeff in particular is sharp, and it is a convincing performance that has been praised since then as "The best performance in eastern Japan!" "No, isn't it the top of the entire tour?" etc. Before "People Get Ready", he gives us a live performance that is so good-humored that he says "You're so cool!" in Japanese. [Disc 2: August 12] Disc 2, which contains the final day instead, is a beautiful live album with a different taste. The recording position here is the front row of the stands, but the details of the musical sounds are as clear as those of Disc 1 in the front row. It is likely that the distance is offset by adjusting the equipment settings, but this is also Kinney Magic in another sense. It is a sound that reminds us of the high level of technical ability. In fact, the cheers speak more eloquently of the position than the clear musical sounds. In Disc 1, it was so "densely enthusiastic" that you could hear the nearby murmurs, but the enthusiasm of Disc 2 is the exact opposite scale. Under the musical sounds that reach straight, a carpet of cheers spreads, and the cheers rise up like steam. The feeling is like an official live album, and it is a spectacular recording that gives you a total feel of the entire concert. The "GUITAR SHOP Trio" depicted in such a sound also has a wonderful total feeling. While the MC was also in a good mood on Disc 1, this one was focused on the performance without MC. Not only is the clarity of each sound clearly drawn, but the breathing of the three people is realistically conveyed. And the ensemble is also amazing. Despite the special bassless arrangement, there is no sense of shortage at all, and Terry Pozzio and Tony Hymas are like demons. And Jeff also hits head-on and does not back down even half a step. Jeff continues to play great guitar up to the present, but it cannot be denied that he has gradually become addicted to something like a "type", even though he is free. However, at this time there was no such sign at all, and each phrase was ferociously brilliant, as if to further expand the possibilities of the instrument called the guitar. This live album, including the two who play Jeff, shows the true value of the "GUITAR SHOP Trio" more vividly than in the studio. Disc 1 is hot and synchronized with the psychology of the audience. Disc 2 is a total reminder of the core capabilities of the "GUITAR SHOP Trio". Although it is a Kinney recording from the same venue, it is a two-disc set with different sounds and performances. This is the world's first live album that completely overturns the image of "1989", which has not been blessed with many sound sources until now.
