Steven Tyler, Buddy Guy, Jan Hammer! ★ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons and Beth Hart. PURPLE RAIN performance dedicated to Prince! ★Popular and well-received! Label's own edited multi-camera mix from multiple cameras! ~~ Realized for one night only! J. Beck's 50th anniversary / career summary, a dream special LIVE! ~~ On August 10, 2016, a special concert celebrating Jeff Beck's 50th anniversary was held at the sacred ground of rock... Hollywood Bowl. All songs are almost completely recorded in a multi-camera mix using multiple cameras with beautiful angles! With the release of his first studio album in six years, Loud Hayler, Jeff Beck has been touring the US since July 2016 with a new band that adds Rosie Oddi, a female vocalist who participated in the album, and Carmen Vandenberg, to the basic backing band with Jim Hall (Vo) and Rhonda Smith (bass). The long-rumored "50th Anniversary Special Live" has been booked for one night only at the Hollywood Bowl, and a luxurious lineup of guests has gathered there. The first thing that surprised me was the chronological set list that seemed to summarize Jeff's career! The opening, which showed photos of Jeff from each era projected on the screen, started with "The Revolution Will Be Televised" from the new album. Just like the album jacket, Rosie Oddi shouted agitation on the megaphone while Jeff played guitar licks! And from the second song onwards, things get amazing. When Jim Hall appeared on vocals, Jeff started playing "Over Under Sideways Down" by the Yardbirds! We have heard this intro guitar phrase several times in Jeff's live shows over the past 40 years, but when was the last time we heard it as a song with vocals? Next up was the Yardbirds' smash hit "Heart Full of Soul"! And then there was "For Your Love"! Jeff never looked back on the past, and he was a difficult guy. The person who seemed to be the photographer couldn't help but say "Oh my God" in a small voice as he listened to the series of songs that were thought to be impossible to hear unless you used a time machine to go back to the 60s (laughs). I understand that feeling. And then from the Jeff Beck Group era, "Beck's Bolero" and "Morning Dew". Another guest will perform the representative songs of this era later, but that's a treat for later. Then Jan Hammer appeared with a keyboard set. From this period, which is especially popular in Japan, Jeff performed five songs including "Freeway Jam", "Sad Lovers", and "Star Cycle". After a corner with Beth Hart (vo), blues legend Buddy Guy appeared and Jeff and Buddy Guy had a fierce guitar battle. After the corner with female vocalist Rosie Oddi singing the new album "Loud Hayler", Billy Gibbons of ZZ TOP appeared and performed two ZZ numbers together. The camera also shot close-ups of Jeff's hands and the stage in a balanced way, and the multi-camera editing made the footage even more enjoyable. And finally, at the end of the show, Steven Tyler of Aerosmith appeared. Yes, this was it! Train Kept A Rollin'!! The roots of Steven, who went on to become a roadie for the Yardbirds and entered the rock world he had always dreamed of, this is an eternal rock anthem that is familiar from the movie "Desire" and connects the Yardbirds, Jeff, and Zeppelin...oh, it's also the original song of the Japanese rock classic "Lemon Tea" (lol)! After this killer number, "Shapes of Things" is suddenly played! This performance would have been what David Bowie in heaven would have wanted to hear. It seems that Jeff was also convinced, and it was set up in the regular tours that followed. And the last song was simply "A Day in the Life" with his usual band members. I really envy the fans who were able to be in the venue with such a dream-like set list. And the encore was the unexpected Prince cover "Purple Rain". Jeff's style of playing the deadly ecstatic guitar phrases of that prince was enough to give me goosebumps. Alongside Beth Hart, who sang the main song, Steven Tyler also inserted his signature high-pitched fakery, bringing the one-night-only wonderful concert to a close. Jeff Beck has announced his Japan tour in 2017 and continues to perform energetically.
